To date, the two best MLB seasons of all-time:
  • 1906 CHICAGO CUBS. Record: 116-36. Manager: Frank Chance. ...
  • 2001 SEATTLE MARINERS. Record: 116-46. Manager: Lou Piniella. ...
The Dodgers sit at 79-32, and are in the midst of a 44-7 run in their last 51 ball games. They would have to go 38-13 the rest of the way to reach 117 wins and set the record.

What say you? Will they do it?

Interesting that both of those teams did not win a WS.

The Dodgers could win 117, but why got that hard into the stretch, if you don't have to?

And lose in the DS? Yes.

Aww... That's cute. He thinks this could really happen!

The Dodgers roster is stacked from everything to their, lineup, back-end of their rotation, to their bullpen, to their backup catcher, to their platoon bats and bench players.

They could probably make a run towards 117 resting guys...

Could they lose in the first round? Technically, yeah... but really... Nah
I mean, I wouldn't bet on it, but this is baseball and it's a 5-game series, anything can happen. Not to mention they will likely be playing either the Diamondbacks or Rockies. 13-9 combined against those two and only 4-6 in the 10 games played on the road against those teams.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they lost in the first round.

And on the flip side of the equation, only two teams (Chicago WS, Philly Phillies) remain under the magical threshold of 43 wins to avoid tying the 62 Mets as the all-time best suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

Well they've just won 43 of 50 (.860 winning %) since June 9, the best 50 game stretch in MLB history so 38 out of 51 (.745 winning %) isn't out of reach.

ANYthing can happen in a short series.

Yep. They might not have as much trouble with Washington, but that would likely be in the LCS.

If they can avoid the injuries. It's a long season, only a matter of time before somebody goes on the DL or Chase Utley breaks some shortstop's leg and get himself suspended.

Wrong... D'Backs and Rockies are in their division. You cannot play a team from your division in the first round. They will be matched up with the NL Central winner.

They will be matched up with the NL Central winner in the first round. Not the D'Backs or Rockies, should they be the two WC teams. Which appears to be most likely.
