Which teams still completely control their own destiny? Which ones will definitely make the CFP if they win out, without any help from other teams needed?
You don't think the other 1-loss SEC teams control their own destiny? It would include a win over Alabama + at least one more other good team for all of them (assuming Alabama makes the SEC title game). And they'd be 1-loss SEC Champs. I don't think any of them would need any other help.I only voted for 3 teams.
Alabama...Clemson and Notre Dame. Per the question, there
are plenty of others that control their own destiny, but only
one can get "picked." Per the 2nd part of the question...who is
in if they win out...the only possible three are Bama, Clemson
and Notre Dame.
Everybody else may not need any team helping them, but they will need
the committee to select them
LSU would beat Alabama + SEC East champ (Georgia, Florida or Kentucky)You don't think the other 1-loss SEC teams control their own destiny? Texas would have to beat either West Virginia twice or West Virginia once plus Oklahoma a 2nd-time.Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio st, Clemson, Notre Dame. Big 12 champ will need a little help
OSU will have to look REALLY convincing moving forward, Iowa will need to win out so we end the year with back-to-back wins over a 1-loss top 10-15 team, and ND will need to lose.Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio st, Clemson, Notre Dame. Big 12 champ will need a little help
Not really, many of these teams still play each other (like LSU/Bama). Whoever loses that game is out. The question would be if teams like Texas and Michigan win out -- then what? With ND potentially taking a spot, a couple conferences are going to get screwed out of their champ representing; a champ that likely only has 1 loss.I only voted for 3 teams.

Yeah, that makes sense. Leaving out Iowa was an oversight, I should've included them on the list. I agree that I don't think Bama will lose either, but those teams we mentioned that would or do play them would indeed make it if they won out and beat them. Even Kentucky, no way a 1-loss SEC Champ (that would have beat Florida, Georgia and Alabama) would be left out. And yeah, if that freaky scenario happened that you mentioned at the end of your post then there obviously would be some extra chaos and technically some of those teams do need help then. Notre Dame definitely throws a wrench in it. Still though, I can't imagine any of those Big 12 teams would be left out with only 1-loss.I don't think Bama will lose, thus I didn't bother even looking
at the other SEC teams.
If UF or UGA win out, which would include a win over Bama than
yeah, they would go. LSU would go if they beat Bama in two weeks
and then win out.
Texas/WVU/Oklahoma one of them could win out
Mich/Ohio St one of them could win out.
Washington St could win out.
But the three winners of that trio would need the help of
the committee to make it, and the committee would also
take into account a 1-loss Bama team.
I left out Kentucky because in the rare likelihood that they won
out, I'm not certain that the committee would select them. I think
they would but I'm not certain of it.
There is a possibility that we could end up with 8 1-loss teams
and no unbeatens out of that list. Then there would be a mad
scramble. Iowa isn't on the list...what if they win out are they
in? I would think but I'm not certain.
But I looked at that list and I saw three that I know will be in if
they win out.
I didn't consider USF or UCF. But there is a path for one of them
if they win out. There would have to be a lot of crazy things
happen and the path is very, very narrow...
But there is a scenario out there that could see 1-loss Iowa
from the Big10, 1-loss Washington St from the Pac-12, 1-loss
Kentucky from the SEC, Everybody in the Big12 with 2 losses
and 1-loss Clemson from the ACC. Then I could see an unbeaten
UCF riding a twenty-five game winning streak getting in over
Kentucky, Iowa or Washington State. Washington State being the
most likely to get left out. (If ND finished with 2 losses also)

I mostly agree. I still don't see anyway a 1-loss SEC champ that would have beaten Alabama plus Florida and either Georgia (if it's Kentucky) or Kentucky (if it's Georgia) would get left out.In for sure if they win out
Alabama
ND
Clemson
LSU
Michigan
Florida
Almost assuredly in
Oklahoma
Texas
Georgia
Ohio St
Iowa
Kentucky
West Virginia
Needs help
Wazzu
UCF
USF
They're both like 98% imo. Same with Iowa, Texas and OU. I'd put OSU clise to that tooI mostly agree. I still don't see anyway a 1-loss SEC champ that would have beaten Alabama plus Florida and either Georgia (if it's Kentucky) or Kentucky (if it's Georgia) would get left out.
Iowa needs helpFlorida is the only team that needs help to win their conference. Everyone else, as an individual team, can run the table and theoretically make the playoffs outside of UCF and USF.
