Hopefully this one doesnt come down to a missed short FG. Great games, though.

Go figure...a team finally puts a strong double on Vernon Davis.

Manning has really fallen apart. Everyone has praised him for how he doesn't make many mistakes anymore taking sacks and forcing passes. Aside from that TD pass, he's seemed to have gotten very antsy in the 2nd half.

Forward progress is the worst rule in football. SF just got jobbed.

Most TD passes in the 4th quarter in NFL history this year. Not his best game today but he has been damn good. Also so much for that being the best O-Line in the NFL. Smith, Smith and company have abused them this second half.

49ers have 3 timeouts, so no reason to run the ball here to force them to use 1. 2 TO's and 1:45 is wayy more than enough to get into FG range.

Next time a skimpy WR makes a catch, instead of tacking him, a couple DB's should just lift the receiver up and carry him as far back as they can. Maybe even take him back to the other endzone and get a safety out of it.

Jim Harbaugh had one of the best single-season coaching performances in recent memory..

goes to show what a legitimatley great coach can do for a franchise

Can't believe they didn't try to run the ball even once with 3 timeouts remaining.

0-11 on 3rd downs (on offense) and the Niners are still tied with a minute left NFCCG.. all smoke and mirrors

I think you gotta give the SF defense some credit though. They're really good. Solid all the way around. Aggresive and well coached.

With the new OT rules, what do you guys think about this:

Considering these are 2 very good defensive teams, and this especially for the Giants. If you win the coin toss, do you defer expecting to be able to hold the 49ers to at worst 3 points? This way, if the 49ers DO get 3 points, it's automatically 4-down territory for you to get at least 3 points. And if the 49ers don't score at all, then 3 points wins it for you as opposed to 3 points not winning it if you start with the ball.

With a D like that it's a real possibility I'd do that.

If I was SF's DB coach I'd tell Goldson to stop hitting guys that are about to intercept the ball.

Yeah, but you still win with a TD on the 1st drive. I'd take the ball. Granted if you are able to hold the other team knowing exactly what you need is a distinct advantage. GOtta take the ball though IMO
