I won't be watching the SB. I hate both of those teams.

I couldn't be less excited about a super bowl. A rematch? yawn.

Neither of these teams are close to being as good as they were in, what, 2008 was it?

Rematch of one of the greatest SB's ever. Two well coached teams playing at a very high level. plus you gotta take into account how much New Yorkers hate the pats and Tom Brady. What's not to like?

I think the Giants are every bit as good as they were in 2008. The defense may have been better then, but the offense is better now.

Regardless of what you think of Alex Smith as a QB. After watching yesterday's game, anyone still believe SF's offense isn't catered to protect the shit out of Smith?

It's definitely catered to protect Smith.... And the strategy works well for Harbaugh, especially given that they didn't have a significant deep threat to stretch the field yesterday.

One thing that bothered me was that on the Niners last three or four drives (after the tying field goal), they seemed to get away from what was working. Where were the run plays? What about the misdirection runs that threw the Giants for a loop on the earlier drive? Why put everything in Smith's hands with that much time to go?

Agreed. They got the ball back tied at 17 with about 1:45 left and 3 timeouts. When all you need is to get into FG and you have 3 timeouts, there is no reason to abandon the run. They passed the ball 3 times for 3 incompletions only to give the ball back to the Giants with over a minute and 2 TO's.

Someone told me the 49ers were talking about giving Smith an extension. If they do, they may find themselves - if they haven't already - in Ravens and Jets territory.

We know your thoughts, but Smith and the Niners went 13-3 and got them to the NFCCC. Couldn't have done much better than that. He will get a full offseason with the same coaches and system, and deserves a shot to get better.

You forgot to answer my question.

Since that was the only solitary post I have in this entire thread, I fail to see how you could have possibly been asking me a question.

"We know your thoughts..."

You were obviously responding to my post, and based on the context of your reply there is only one possible post of mine you could have been responding to (post #89). In which I not only asked a question regarding his role within the offense, but also asked that question based on a "neutral" view of Alex Smith (i.e. disregarding any opinion of him as a QB).

No, I was referencing the thread where you said they should replace him.

I must've missed the reference in your post.

But surely now you can see where one could misinterpret what you're responding to (2nd time in as many weeks) when you randomly interject thoughts about an old topic without actually referencing that topic especially when said person being responded to makes a post about a similar topic specifically disregarding the basis of the content of your post.

If Palmer was the QB of SF last night they loose that game by 10+ with the way SF's O-Line was playing.
