i guess he hates liars too
consider it over with , and it should be. Manfred will still be commish when Rose is buried and that is that. The Pete Rose reinstatement saga ended for good and will never be looked at again.I'm not surprised by this outcome. I give credit to Manfred to at least looking into it. Hopefully, this issue is put to bed for a long, long time.
Honestly, if I were Pete rose I would hope they never lift my ban... People talk about him still because of the ban... He is considered one of the best players to ever NOT be in the HOF, and one of the biggest scandals... If he made the HOF, yes he would have his hits record, but he would also be forgotten since he is nowhere near a top 50 HOFer...

It was a pretty half assed and hypocritical attempt. He apparently didn't even both to meet with Rose at all (according to a Jayson Stark article).
The fact that Rose may still gamble now as a reason to hold him out is nonsense, especially when you're supporting what should be considered clearly illegal gambling (aka it should treated like online poker) in Draft Kings and Fan Dual.
I don't care if they still ban him from working for teams. That's fine. But to not put him in the Hall of Fame, which is first and foremost a museum of the history of the game, is ridiculous.
How could just ban him from teams? That would mean he is on the ineligible list and therefore would automatically be banned from the HOF. It wouldn't be any different than it is now.
He could just say he's eligible for the HOF and not allowed to be employed by MLB teams.
I just don't see the Hall of Fame Committee putting him on the ballot if that were the case.
