Yeah, he is. Now that they will solely own the stadium and land, they said they are willing to take a minor financial hit if the NHL team came first, but it depends on who owns the NHL team, whether he wants to just pay rent or chip in money for the arena project/money for the NBA team.

Building the arena completely privately means he gets the money from concerts and other events that are held inside the arena plus now that he wouldn't have to do public works with the excess land he can either sell it off or build bars and clubs to help line his pockets waiting on the NBA.

You'd think the city would be jumping at the chance to develop the Key Arena site. I mean, with that site along with the parkland behind it and the old soccer stadium just to the north of the building with giant fucking spiders on its roof that gave me a heart attack when I zoomed in on Google Maps...why the hell wouldn't they grab this by the balls?

Im gonna put my tin foil hat on and say I think Bettman is behind these moves to renovate Key Arena. You got one local party who really never wanted any part of an NHL team (thereby spiting the NHL) that wants to build a new building and now you have 2 outsider corporations in AEG and MSG (that are friends to Bettman in the hockey world) who have come in and developed plans to make an old arena work for the NHL
