No excuses. He was downright awful. And yes, he had only thrown around 40 pitches on Monday night in Anaheim. But it still matters. His routine was different than any other start this year. Maybe it mattered. Maybe it didn't. But that was his worst start of the year. Something was off.
Maybe Wash should have gone Holland then CJ, with both guys going on full rest. Just a thought.
