I'm more pissed off than I am disappointed. Cubs just fucking rolled over and died.

I like the Cubs, so thank God this happened while ND is still in the hunt for a playoff position. I was much less interested in baseball than I would have been if ND had 2-3 losses.

I would argue it never got started at least not for the Cubs, I was really expecting more from them.

At the beginning of the year Chicago sports radio(the guys I listened to) were debating whether the Cubs could make it to 81-81 this year. It was about 50/50 as to whether thy could make it there. By the end of the season, most had bought into the hype, but I think most had next year targetted as the year to make the move. While it was disappointing to go out without a fight, I am optomisic about next year. (typical Cubs fan, although FYI, did not grow up a Cubs fan)

Something must be wrong with you to choose this disease (being a Cubs fan). It's usually something you're born into. Being a Cub fan is just different than other teams, non Cub fans can't understand it.

I was born in 1990, two years after Notre Dame's last Championship. That equals 25 years (probably closer to 18 years) of heartbreak from the two teams I love most. Definitely one sided relationships.

Cubs start 4 rookies (Bryant, Schwarber, Russell and Soler) Rizzo is 26 and Castro is 25. Was it a pisser? Sure. But this team is built for the future, not the here and now. But because they exceeded expectations and made the playoffs, they have now set the tone, and fans will be expecting playoffs every single season.

Pressure is on in 2016

I grew up in the south, so I was a long time Braves fan (still like them, always will), but had family in Chicago who were big Cubs fans, so I always also liked the Cubs. Moved to Chicago area about 13 years ago and have been a Cubs fan ever since (still a Braves fan).

Been an ND fan my whole life (for no known reason). From a sports perspective nothing else even close to the feeling for ND.

As a Red Sox fan I understand Cubs fans pain, it can't and won't last forever.

What made you take a liking to Notre Dame as a child? You even graduated from ND, didn't you?

No one in my family ever knew anyone who went to ND, and they weren't big ND fans, but in 4th grade I told my parents that was where I was going. It was actually the only college I applied to. If I hadn't gotten in, I was screwed. But I didn't want to go anywhere else. They (ND) knew I wanted to go (long story) and they let me in.
