So what would you call him trying to bring the ball down and into his body? Is that not a football play? What do you call starting to turn your body upfield right before your stripped? Sounds like a football play to me.
Take your homer blinders off and watch the play again, the DB spun him around in a circle, the receiver did not turn up field, he did not turn. The ball coming down to his knees and not his waist proves that he did not have control of the ball, if he had control the ball would have been tucked into his arm around his waist. Instead his arms stayed extended and dropped to his knees.

Here's the whole play:

He clearly lowered his head right before contact. Don't lower your head and you won't have problems. They need to have more leeway in what is and isn't an ejection but that's not the rule.
And if Lawrence doesn't lower his head at the last second, we're talking about a great tackle. When you're running full speed at a guy and go for a wrap tackle, you simple aren't going to be staring straight at him. That would mean you have your neck craned all the way back. As was illustrated in another thread, there are countless examples of tackles where this is the case.

The fact that this is up to so much debate and controversy clearly shows the rule itself hasn't been explained well enough. This is far from the first time a targeting call has been heavily questioned.

You are literally describing a different play, because that's not at all what happened.

Look at this:

AR-191228854.jpg&MaxW=1200&MaxH=630

He is so clearly going for the wrap, but Lawrence completely dropped his helmet down at the last second. His shoulder made contact with Lawrence's shoulder, and then the helmets hit. It's a hit that happens to ball carriers dozens of times every week. It was an extremely weak call.

Keep crying cupcake, he drove the crown of his helmet into the Lawrence’s helmet, no matter what it is a penalty, you can not drive the crown of your helmet into any player at any time. You just keep your head up. If he did then it would not have been a penalty. And none of these penalties cost you the game, getting 9 out of 21 points in the red zone cost you the game. Throwing 2 INTs cost you the game. Allowing 94 yards over 4 plays in 1:18 cost you the game. Staring off 16-0, then going 7-29 cost you the game. Once Clemson woke up and started playing football you guys had no answer, none at all. The only thing you have is to cry about the refs, the same exact move my fellow Wolverines have mastered over the past 20 years, the same move that you Suckeye fans tell us to get over every year. It’s time you take your own advice, because no matter if you like the actual rule or not it is the actual rule.

Dabo is a dumbass, can’t say Fields or Dobbins? Calls them the QB and RB. Great football coach but seems kind of an idiot

It was enjoyable watching OSU lose...

but the enjoyment was somewhat diminished because Dabo came across as an idiot during his postgame on-the-field ESPN TV interview. He was spewing a bunch of glory to God bullshit, essentially implying that God was with him & Clemson as opposed to Ohio State. What a self-important egotistical thing to say. I imagine the All-Mighty has more important stuff to worry about than a silly college football game being played on this tiny speck of dust. Dabo is a very good coach, but he sure is a tool.

So? Lawrence did lower himself to brace for the hit. And Wade went crown-first into him. I don't think the automatic ejection should be part of the rule but that tech doesn't work in today's game.

That shit does bug me though. I wish some player would praise satan after a win, saying the orgies with goat blood drenched harlots are what gave him the strength to win.

Wrong dip shit, that is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED! Watch the freaking play! In Slow motion the play is a total of 9 seconds. Here is the freaking breakdown per second
1-2 the ball hits his hands while step #1 is being completed,
3, step #2 is completed
4, the DB’s left hand grabs the WR left elbow and pulls down while step #3 is taken. DB’s right arm extends between receivers arm and starts to spin him.
5. The DB knocks the ball loose while continuing to spin the receiver and receiver takes step #4.
Only a freaking blind moron would argue with that. By all means continue to be that moron, or clink on this link and actually watch the slow motion play, and by all means slow it down even more. The receiver NEVER CONTROLLED THE BALL! No amount of crying from you and your fellow fans will change that.

Nope, that is the actual rule.
ARTICLE 3. a. To catch a ball means that a player:

1. Secures firm control with the hand(s) or arm(s) of a live ball in flight before the ball touches the ground, and

2. Touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then

3. Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it, avoid or ward off an opponent

He's Jesus. You know, the guy that gets crucified at the end of the story?

Yeah, but the Trinity and all that stuff....the Harbaugh-Jesus hybrid was created by magical God jizz.

Harbaugh loses big games for all of us, not just Michigan fans.

Exactly..... Dabo credited God with the Clemson victory over Ohio State... in other words, Dabo was saying God was with him & Clemson instead of OSU.

Here, dipshit. This is coming from a veteran referee who's job it is to break down rules for NBC. He's smarter than you, needless to say.

no, he's saying god gave him life, his talent, and the opportunity to be in that position, instead of accepting all credit for success for himself.

he's not into self worship.
