See, the softball team proves you can win a natty without Texans. No need to come down here and steal 'em.

They're not texicans anymore when they attend the University of Oklahoma. So they got that going for them, which is nice.

CBS Names Oklahoma The Best College Sports Program Of 2015-2016

"On the gridiron, Baker Mayfield led Oklahoma to a berth in the second-ever College Football Playoff. On the hardwood, Buddy Hield lit up the nets en route to the Final Four. Throw in women’s gymnastics and softball national titles, and the Sooners had a really unbelievable season across the board in 2015-16.CBS Sports weighed the results from this past football and men’s basketball seasons, as well as the two best years for non-revenue sports from every school, and Oklahoma comes out on top. Here is how their scoring system works:

We rated every FBS football school in three sports — football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball — along with two “wild card” sports to come up with the Best in College Sports award.

For our formula (which takes into account only schools that field FBS football programs): we weighed football worth 2.5 times as much as the other sports, while men’s basketball is worth twice as many points. Teams that didn’t finish in the final AP Top 25 in football but played in a bowl were awarded 62.5 points (25 x 2.5). Teams that made the NIT, CBI or CIT were given 20 points (10 points times two), while WNIT teams received 10 points.

For all titles that were settled via a bracket, point totals were based on via how many teams participated in the bracket. All champions in the other sports we surveyed received 100 points for a national title. For example — Oklahoma’s women’s gymnastics title gained them 100 points, Ohio State’s third-place finish in men’s wrestling garnered 85 points, and Michigan’s fifth-place finish in softball gained them 78 points."

Oklahoma finished with 603.5 points, easily clear of No. 2 North Carolina. Here is the full Top 10.

1. Oklahoma
2. North Carolina
3. Notre Dame
4. Stanford
5. Ohio State
6. Alabama
7. Syracuse
8. Iowa
9. Florida State
10. Utah

All that population and talent, yet nary a Texas or Florida school ahead of Iowa. Damn it feels good to be a gangster.

This list got me to remembering that in the three other major sports(men's/women's basketball and men's baseball) that a non P5 team won those championships. Just think that's pretty interesting. Although I'd consider the Big East a power basketball school. But some might not.

Hell, all our talent goes to Oklahoma. They steal high school athletes like they stole land.

I don't consider them so only because they don't get the gazillion dollars the P5 schools get from football. They are probably as good basketball wise as any of 'em, without the $$$.

Can you even imagine the outrage if it had been an SEC school?

I was strictly coming from a pure basketball competitiveness standpoint. They don't get the $$$ of the P5 conferences, but they are a top 4 basketball conference(at least they were last year, collectively)

We're not in the SEC.

Yet.

If we get there, you're going to have to donate more money to Vandy. Gonna have to put another number up on the visitor's score on the scoreboard so that 3 numbers can be used to designate our score.

Funny how you texicans cry about kids bettering themselves....you should want better for them than the shallow, insipid "DURR, WERE TECKSUS!" mindset.

Hells to the yes on them bettering themselves.

But north of the Red River? That ain't a lot better than south of the Rio Grande.

Besides, you guys ain't the only pilfering thieves coming to Texas to steal our kids!

Being a fan of a school from El Paso, I don't think you really have a high ground to stand on and look down your nose at us land thieves.
