Captain of USMNT

Idc if Dempsey is named team captain who do you think is the captain of our team in your opinion?

Michael Bradley hands down has this team in his control when he plays. No doubt Dempsey has control of our offense with Jozy but Bradley has always been the centerpiece(for the last 4 yrs atleast)

Some could argue Dempsey or Howard

It's absolutely Bradley. I like Dempsey but at this point, Bradley is the better player, I feel like he carries himself with more of a maturity despite being younger. However it's good that there are multiple leaders on this team. Tim Howard is a leader on this team. I like the mix of youth and experience on this team.

I would vote Dempsey or Howard IMO. Both being there for quite sometime as well as leading the way in terms of public image when one thinks of USMNT.

Also though, we're not practicing with the team, we're not in the locker room. That's why I always find it tough to discredit or critique who the captain of a team is.

Probably Howard or Bradley, but I think Jurgen chose Dempsey because he wanted him to take a more prominent leadership role.

Jurgen came out and said this already. He said he made Dempsey the captain so he would begin thinking about the team and how his play and actions effected the entire team more so than just himself.

Howard for me. He's our best player and possibly a top 3 goaltender in the world. Has any US player had a run in the Premier league like him? Although, it's just not a sexy position that Americans like talking about. More importantly, he's commanding the team from the back as well as in the media with sound bites.

I wouldn't name Dempsey. He really isn't much of a 'captain' on the Sounders where he clearly is the best player, more or less the USMNT. Your level of play isn't related to leadership abilities. Don't get me wrong, I love me some deuce, but he isn't a leader.
