Even lower tier players like Boulerice, Shane Willis, Steve Halko, and older guys like Steve Rice, Aaron Ward, to the Elite + old Francis + Wesley + Brindy

There is definitely a HUUUUUUGE skill gap from your average mens leaguer.

I played in a 3 on 3 tourney against a team that had a couple of retired NHLers.
The legs weren't there, but my goodness - every pass was crisp and perfectly on the tape.
and when they turned it on, it was something to see. and something else altogether to try and stop!

pre-game introductions.. he was one of the first on the ice.

Seriously... wearing the uniform, getting name called andon the jumbotron as you skate out onto NHL ice... and you start the game at center - facing off against Ron freaking Francis??? And Rod F'n Brind'Amour is feeding you passes???

Talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Raised a shitload of money for the Canes n' Community foundation though

They only opened one side of the arena. Next year they may need to open both, lower bowl was packed end to end. (this was the first year for this event)

My wife told his wife that she has easily earned wife of the year for 2012 (with her large charitable donation) to get him into this game.

I was sad. I asked my wife why she would give up the title so easily this early in the year. Doesn't she even want to TRY to top that?

exactly!!

The pregame warmups were hilarious. The simple things they do every game/practice, without even thinking about it or trying...

They did the same NHL pregame routine today.... and the non-NHL'ers, guys who in their own right are decent skaters and players in their leagues... looked like a bunch of drunken moneys attempting calculus.
