Not looking forward to this one. I can see us dropping 2 of 3 easily. We need to have a winning record against the Cards this year if we want any chance to take this division. But I have sinking feeling they will be our nemesis ala the Brewers a few years ago.

I just wonder what will happen when Harrison, McCutchen, Marte all start hitting consistently, if the starting pitching stays this good.

Great play by Mercer to take a bit of the heat off this inning, starting a flare-out double-play for Caminero.

No double-play. The call was overturned. 1 out and first and second instead of 2 and just first.

I saw what they saw to overturn it, but I didn't think it was irrefutable. I thought there might have been enough ambiguity on when his foot actually touched the bag to allow the play to stand, but New York disagreed.

Bastardo gets the benefit of some framing and a call and strikes out Wong. Second and third now on a double steal, though. Hughes on to face Reynolds.

Reynolds drives in the tying run with a soft ground ball to the only place he could have hit it and it not be an out. Have to wonder why they didn't stick Walker on the third-base side of second against him, honestly.

Now that I see the Reynolds spray chart, I understand why they aligned the defense as they did. He just hit it where he never does in that at bat.

Pedro should have scored on Liriano's bunt, and he should have thrown out Bourjos, and darn it, if his double had stayed in the park Marte would have scored, too.

On that note, Kang should be getting more at bats, I think. He's looked good lately, and Mercer and Harrison have both been bad. One of them could sit to get Kang a few starts.

Our offense has been bad. We need to ride any possible hot streak we can get

Mercer, Harrison and McCutchen joining Alvarez in the 'mendoza line' club is killing our offense.
