I think that would be a downgrade. Hayden has been getting burned ever since his contract extension. The Raiders need to be on the phone.

Reggie McKenzie was schooled in the Green Bay Packers roster management system. When he got the job, the cupboards were bare, so he made some moves outside his schooled philosophy to get a few useful players on the team. He has since settled rather nicely into the draft & develop philosophy and it's starting to pay off.
Taking on Haden goes against that philosophy and negates the salary cap flexibility he's been working towards for years. I'm sure a big name like Haden sounds enticing to fans, but I would expect McKenzie to do his homework on lesser-name guys and find one that could potentially equally help his team at a fraction of the cost or just keep what he's got and target some DBs early in the 2018 draft.
We added offense in the offseason and pretty much neglected the defense...which is what needed to be improved.
Pick Player Pos
Round 1, Pick 24 (24) Gareon Conley CB
Round 2, Pick 24 (56) Obi Melifonwu S
Round 3, Pick 24 (88) Eddie Vanderdoes DT
Round 4, Pick 23 (129) David Sharpe OT
Round 5, Pick 24 (168) Marquel Lee LB
Round 7, Pick 3 (221) (From Cardinals through Bears) Shalom Luani S
Round 7, Pick 13 (231) (From Cardinals) Jylan Ware OT
Round 7, Pick 24 (242) Elijah Hood RB
Round 7, Pick 26 (244) (From Seahawks) Treyvon Hester DT
This looks pretty defense-heavy to me.
Would be a good fit on any of the other teams. Think the Browns could get a king's ransom for him.
Rookies.....you do realize the learning curve they usually have, right? Vets are proven players who can step in and produce right away.
Still a good player, but not worth his cap hit....the other 31 partners would be wise to let him hit the open market.
Browns really do seem to be wising up....for a team that might win 5 games this yr, why hang on to an $11 mil per CB that last earned pro bowl status in '14.
So you'd rather McKenzie trade your team's future for a single risky high-priced player who could potentially opt out of his contract after this year?

The drama is real.....trading a pick isn't trading our future....you never know how a draft pick will pan out and this team is in a position to win now.....rather than wait 2-3 years for these kid to learn on the job.
Do you think Cleveland would be satisfied with a single-pick bounty for one of their best players? I don't.
I'm not saying we should trade the farm for him.....a 2nd rounder, that's it.
