This was a cost cutting move. I hope with this year's team and projected offensive struggles that this move does not come back to cost a a game due to a blocked punt or something bizarre in the punt game.

It's one thing to go with a rookie punter if you have a high powered offense but he plan this year is to call it / run it and punt if necessary.

That is definitely a concern. Unfortunately with the cap you have to make cap saving moves like this. I mean if we could just keep everybody then right now most likely Malik and Trevathan are still on this team and Osweiler is probably our QB if we didn't have to worry about cost. I'm just hoping that all these cap saving moves like this and most likely Sanchez can be used to help keep Sanders in the building. I know the idea of paying 2 WR's top money isn't a good one but Sanders really does seem like the emotional leader of our offense and I would hate to lose that especially with a young QB leading our team for at least the next few years.

Two high paid WRs - not such a problem when you are paying the QB peanuts for three years.

To me boils down to do you believe either Siemian or Lynch will develop into a functioning QB in this league? If so then yeah you can pull the trigger on a situation like this. Plus not often that a team has 2 guys that could be easily argued to be top-10 in the league at the position.

Yeah - good point, but the Broncos available money next year is pretty good.

WR is a dependent position on the QB. Only if the QB is good does it make the WRs good to great.
Let's hope the QB develops to utilize the talents of Manny and DT

Most of the time. But DeAndre Hopkins sorta bucked that line last year.

True but outlier. And what did that get him so far? Not a new contract.

A Brown just signed an something to make his contract this year $10.3 MM a year. I think Denver will be closer to $9.5 max per year based on current QB status and age.

If Im Dixon, I need to not shank any punts Thursday night. They cut Colquit because of salary. It's not 100% that Dixon cannot be replaced if he does not perform.

Right. Just like any other players in the national football league he will be replaced if he doesn't play well.

The Broncos/Chiefs rivalry will never be the same for the Colquitt family.

So what will Dixon do in late November, 20 degrees/rain, punting out of his end zone Denver up by 2?
80 degrees/sunny and he is stinking up Glendale

And lynch is also stinking up the joint
I think he's oh for 3rd down right now

Yeah I think this PS game what I wanted to see most was Dixon punt well and Lynch play well. Neither have happened. I am glad we gave Lynch all 4 quarters because he needs all the reps he can get right now if we want to throw him out there early.

Jordan Taylor wrapped up his roster spot tonight.

Was this a DICK move by Elway? You decide.

Media reported Elway told Colquitt to take the veteran minimum with nothing guaranteed and sign a 3 year extension at that price to boot.

Actually was reading on the situation and the 2-sides were not all that far off from getting a deal done. Pretty much the Broncos wanted him to take a deal that this year only paid him $1 million where Colquitt's team was wanting $1.5 million. So only a $500,000 difference. My guess is though Elway and Colquitt both know that this was the end of the road. His cost was just too great and the team is just wanting to get younger and cheaper at some cost saving positions like punter.

I was reading something earlier that said we have the 5th youngest roster in the NFL if we stay at the 53 we have right now.

I don't think it is a dick move. That is part of the business.

Colquitt had a choice and he declined.

I don't see that as a dick move.

I am glad Colquitt is in Cleveland, probably can't hurt us too much there. I will always root for the guy. He left a nice message to Denver as he left. Very classy.
