Probably around 13-15 years old you should stop.

Adults shouldn't bring gloves to the game UNLESS they have their kid with them. Pretty cool to see a son and dad at a baseball game with gloves.

But if you're in your 40s and are at the game with some buddies...leave the glove at home.

I agree with the people who say it is ok to bring a glove (regardless of age) if you are sitting in an area with a pretty good chance of a high speed line drive coming your way.

To a certain extent, you owe it to your team as a hometown fan. (See OP video footage. Minus the douche aspect of giving the bird. Uncalled for and a sign of ameteur drinking status.) I've never caught a ball at an MLB game. Snagged a couple at minor league games in my hat that I gave to nearby kids, but that doesnt count. But once that ball breaks the seating section plane, it's not interference if you do your damnedest to get it. Its homefield advantage. Just don't be a Bartman. (Didn't bring his glove, like a front row chump that's not worthy.)

These results are very interesting... I did a similar poll about ten years ago and got the exact opposite reactions. Most agreed that kids should have the gloves and adults should not.

I wonder why the shift?

Depends on where your seats are. If you are sitting in a location that has a high % chance of a ball traveling rapidly towards your face it would be smart to take a glove regardless of age.
Also baseball games are long, having a glove gives you something to fidget with and a conversation piece as well.
If you bring a sharpie along you never know if there is smoking hot girl you could walk up to and ask her to sign your glove to break the ice.
Just dont leave glove under your seat when you leave.

Yeah...smoking hot girls love guys with gloves at a game where your chance of catching a foul ball or getting hit by a line drive are almost nil

I see no problem with bringing a glove to the game at any age. Until this thread I had no idea other people had a problem with it. Joe Garagiola Sr. still brings his glove to games and he is 88 years old.
