Breaking news : Marlins Jose Fernandez killed Saturday night

This was literally the first thing I heard when I got up this morning. My son was waiting on me in the hallway when I got out of bed to tell me. Sucks sooo much ass, kid was way too young.

I don't really see that comp. Clemente was in the twilight of his career and was the first major Latin American player. There's been a lot since him. Regardless, I hope Jose is at peace now.

In every single season he's ever pitched at the big league level, he's had one instance of any of his ERA/FIP/xFIP being above 3.00: 3.08 xFIP in his rookie year in 2013.

One of the best pitchers in baseball, and seemed like a really cool guy in general. Great smile and emotion shown even when he wasn't pitching. Way too young, tragic news especially now hearing he was gonna be a father soon. RIP Jose, you will be missed.

Jose was a young Cuban athlete in a heavily Cuban area. You could argue his death is just as impactful as Clemente's.

I do know that Clemente is considered a hero that transcended baseball by most. Its not really fair for most men to be compared to him.
