Biggest choke in this tourney so far..

I'll go with VCU.. I decided to jump on the Shaka bandwagon and that was a complete meltdown.. That 4 point play almost made me kick my TV in..

Iowa.


While it is much more of a season kind of choke, they still choked if off against Tennessee.


It wasn't all that long ago that Iowa was almost a lock as at least a 3 or 4 seed. Come tourney time and they were in a play-in game in which they led until the final minute only to shit the bed in OT losing by 13 points. Iowa was a team talented enough to be in Final Four discussions, but ended up as an 11 seed an out of play before the tournament even started.

I didn't have OK ST winning.

I missed both VCU and Oklahoma St. Because Iowa has not been playing well, IMO the Tennessee win came as no surprise. Tennessee is a very good team when they come to play. A running team like Arizona or Florida beats those guys, but a team like Wisconsin would have more trouble. It's all about match-ups.

NC State for sure. They were up by 16 with not a lot of time left. They were missing FTs and leaving shooters wide open on the wings to help on well contained/contested drives. It seriously looked like the defense on NBA2k where the help defense gets sucked from the perimeter for no reason even though the drive is well contained.

i give the slight edge to Virginia Commonwealth. I can understand a young adult letting the pressure of a FT with so many million people watching get to them.... but that foul on the 3-pointer with 3 seconds left was one of the most idiotic things to happen on a basketball court, ever.

I agree. All those missed FTs and then Warren needlessly committing his fifth foul with half a minute in OT with his team only down one didn't make any sense.

VCU....it wasn't a matter of making/missing FTs. It was a matter of playing smart basketball when your team is about to win.

VCU wasn't nearly as good this year as they have been. While the 4-point play was dumb, them losing isn't a huge upset (I had them losing).

The problem with the VCU "choke" is it was 1 bad play but 1 player who had a mental lapse. It was a close game throughout. Heck if he doesn't foul the guy still makes the 3 down 1 with about 5 seconds to go..never know.

I have Stephen F. Austin in the Sweet Sixteen, but that call was really weak. I really don't think it was that close to a foul. I guess he was dumb for being that close, but I'm not gonna lambaste a kid when the refs fucked up. VCU played well. Yes, they missed some free throws, and made some errors, but that's expected with their type of play. On the whole, they played well and lost to a very good team.

There isn't a clear winner here. San Diego State would have been the obvious answer had they lost. They played an unbelievably awful 25 minutes of basketball and only lost because their 13-seed opponent brought their C+ game (which was still good enough to come back from 15 down). NC State is also a contender. They had that game in the bag.

Yah it was 3 seconds. They throw a deep pass or even foul there is less than 3 seconds and they need a desperation 3 to tie or win.
