Firefly was amazing, but I agree that it is disqualified for any GOAT discussion because of its short life.

The Wire, however, was only a very good show. Not a GOAT contender.

If you're only including a single season of a TV show, IMO that makes it more of a mini series. And if you're including min series then you have to include Band of Brothers. Which is maybe the only way that The Wire could possibly even be challenged.

A TV show is a TV show. Maybe it's different than a TV series. Or TV program.

Id still take the Wire over BoB. But that's partly because Id already read BoB so the suspense episode to episode wasn't there.

You'll realize why once it gets going. The size and scope of what is being built up means that it takes a little bit of time, there's a lot going on in the world of The Wire.
