Nice win. The sign of a true team is how well the other players perform when key players go down with injuries. The defensive lapse will be corrected and isn't the norm, thank God.

As for the loss of Manny and -- possibly -- JJ for an extended period, that is something that makes me cringe, but it is what it is. The sad part is that they were both just getting their strokes back after the previous injuries.

Looks like Chris got the message and might be waking up, offensively. Can't expect a homer every night, but a couple of base hits will do. If he can get that average up to at least .240, I'll be comfortable with that.

i saw where jj may play today so he is a day to day thing . as long as manny is ready for the playoffs i don't care . jays lost and so did the a's we are 4 games behind the a's . royals have over taken the tigers and kc matches up better vs us than the tigers . let's go o's

I seriously doubt Davis can raise his average nearly 50 points with less than 50 games left. He'd have to hit like .400 for that to happen. My guess is around .215-.220 by the end of the season, at best.

Realistically, no ... but if he stays hot, yes. He raised his average from .193 to .197 in the past two games. I don't expect him to go on a 40+ consecutive-game hitting streak, but it is possible for him to bat at or near '.400' for a stretch -- which will raise his average. Will he do it? I doubt it. Is it possible? Yes.

We've all seen players get on hot streaks. Just look at Manny and JJ. Davis had big streaks, last season. Look at what Cruz did the 1st half of the season. All it takes is proper motivation and focus -- which Davis has. He's been hitting like "Crash" Davis from Bull Durham instead of "Crush" Davis from last season, so far, but ... remember, he was injured, this season. No one confirmed if he was fully healed or not -- and he may be hiding an injury.

This might be a blessing in disguise. That's one more day for JJ to rest up and get treatment on that thumb and for the guys to relax/work out/treat any nagging kinks.

Pineda is awful and carry's himself as such. The O's are just not hitting tonight. Tillman on the other hand is a perfect example of why we needed a top of the rotation pitcher. We have a rotation full of 3's-4's that can't shut anyone down. Now along with Weiters, Machado and Hardy are sitting which hurts. All the sudden, we don't look very scary to anyone since Davis & Cruz have completely been a shell of themselves.
