Welp, it's been kind of an ugly first week.. let's face it, frustration is running high right about now, for all of us.

Only game I was able to catch was the home opener, so I'm not feeling the pain quite as intensely as some of you guys who caught them this week but, trust me, your opinions are ringing through loud-and-clear. Looking at ESPN's page and seeing we're ranked 27th in slugging percentage, 27th on on-base percentage, 27th on ERA, 30th in WHIP, and 30th in BAA... yeah, that ain't a good feeling.

It's one week.. let's try to renew our faith with a fresh week. (Hard as that can be at times.. I know.. I know...)

Debated checking out the game late when I awoke yesterday before work (I work the nightshift) but I just couldn't do it, even when I saw we were within a run of tying the game. I just didn't want that bad energy to manifest itself before work and, sure enough, I saw on the box score while scrambling to get ready, that our vaunted middle-of-the-order couldn't atleast get that last run through to push it to extra innings.

So we've got our early test. The sunshiny ST is over and, here we are, in reality. 2.5 behind TB already. Just gotta maintain and approach every game without thinking about tomorrow. No point pressing and trying to get the 5-run homerun (lol) to erase our sins from the past week.

Just gotta settle down and play the right Oriole ball.

Don't let the fan fever get you playing out of your game, O's. The WS wasn't won in April. Just settle down and let the ball come to you. That patience will pay huge dividends on our pitching corp, who might be so damn tentative right now that they're pitching out of their style because every run given up feels like 10 runs.

It's sunday... new week... clean slate.

3-3 road trip.

Not stellar, but it beats a kick in the balls.

Next up, going home to face Toronto. Blue jays are pitching Dickey at home tonight against Houston and starting Dusting McGowan against the O's on Friday? I guess we'll take it. Almost no history between him and the O's bats.

Markakis has had the most success against Hutchinson and Buehrle the last 5 years, hitting .500 and .409 respectively. 4 rbi in 22 AB against Buehrle.

What sorts of things have you done with the team over the years?

JJ: I’ve sung The National Anthem before the game six or seven times. I got a chance to go out on the field during batting practice in the 80s. That was when Cal Ripken, Jr. was going to play his first game. I was on the field joking with those guys, like Eddie Murray. It was just nice to be a fan and be on the field with them.

I also went to Fantasy Week. We would go down and spend a few weeks before Spring Training started. Each team has it and you can go. I did it in ’92. There were 105 people and 5 women including me. You form teams and play baseball for two weeks. You get Major League coaches. My coach was from Baltimore. They would teach you what to do. I played second base; those throws are far! When you’re on a major league diamond, it’s a whole different deal. I had real people teaching me out to pitch. Mike Cuellar, who was a 20-game winner for the Orioles, taught me how to throw a screwball. If you’re a baseball fan, that’s one of the best things you can do with yourself.

Ok, we've got two rainout games squished into a double-header on what was originally was going to be an off-day.

I usually never expect a double-header sweep, especially not given Thursday as their scheduled day off. Doesn't matter how good the team is (any team), if they get their Tuesday and Wednesday games rained out and have to make them both up on a scheduled day off I usually expect a split. Both teams are kinda out-of-sorts, ya know? I was quite happy we got the sweep.

Welp, we got swept. 5 games to 1 for the season series.

Maybe we'll see them again come postseason. We're gonna have to fix some things before then. And get some kind of flow going. This teams feels disjointed.
