Most undervalued player on the team IMO.

Good trade for both teams. Smith is a professional hitter like I have said many times before. Not an A.S., just a professional hitter which I will take all day long.

The Mariners have a collective batting average of .147 with a .206 OBP and .263 SLG % from their catchers this year. Yikes...

He's a professional hitter, someone I'd actually like to see on the team moving forward. Good player.

I predicted 6 automatic outs between Jones and Sucre at bottom of order and now we have 4 of them. Why you sub both of them against the team you have to beat is just amazing to me. Jackson is our hottest hitter and needs to play in big games. This is a big game. Sucre is an auto out which makes him just a hair worse than K-nino.

Likewise... At the beginning of the season most M's fans were just saying that all we added was Cruz... Smith was a big acquisition for us whom was getting overlooked quite a bit... He's been solid, arguably our #3 hitter on the team this year...

Remember when we were rumored to have been close to signing Martin in the off season? What a big miss that was.

Yep... 9 guys LOB so far thru 4 innings... Unreal but expected...

Z has whiffed with every catcher he's tried to insert into our lineup since he's been here...

I was wondering why they benched him today. Since coming back, he's hitting .274/.324/.411 with 9 RBIs 2 triples and 6 doubles. He has been hitting well.

He's a good hitter, and just as good if not better defensively than Mike Zunino. With how piss poor our offensive output has been from our catching position, I have to imagine we'd have at least 3 more wins if Martin was our starting catcher.

Zunino has problems and working them out in the majors doesn't seem to be the solution. Not to mention, the Mariners probably have the worst backup catcher in baseball.

To play devil's advocate, if the Mariners signed Russell Martin, do they still sign Nelson Cruz?

Yeah, no reason Trumbo should be hitting #2 against the Astro's... I don't understand why Jackson is sitting either with how hot he's been... If we win today, we would've gained 3 games on the stro's... If we lose, it's only 1... I'd argue that today has been one of most important games to date this month... You'd think we'd put out our best today because of the opportunity at hand...

You don't see the Astro's benching their best...

Good point and I say no we don't sign him because of no money excuse. Maybe we sign a lesser OF like Aoki which I still say was the biggest miss this off season.

At .158, Mike Zunino has the lowest batting average of all catchers in MLB with at least 100 PA.

There are 34 catchers with at least 100 PA who have a higher batting average.

That's sad... That means there are backups better than Zunino... :L

Nice job Miller... Routine ground ball right thru his legs... That could end up costing us the game...

Aoki would've been a great addition. At only $4m, he's such a steal it's ridiculous. Hell, I'd pay $7m for him honestly.
