Not a huge loss, but it looked like he was going to be a starter. Looks like a Tolliver gets the nod now. Honestly, it’s not a terrible loss.

Hmm. He was back end of the depth chart CB, from everything I read. Fighting to stay in the league after being a bust in Pittsburgh. A reclamation project who might get a 2nd chance, at some point.

Fuller

Roberson
Jaylon Johnson
Tolliver

All of three of those guys would have had better chances of starting than Burns, I thought. Especially Roberson and Johnson. I get why Burns would run with the 1's initially as the only guy with any sort of starting experience. But... we got involved in a widespread bidding war to get Roberson and spent a 2nd on Jaylon Johnson.

Roster Move: Bears waive Tre Roberson

Sorry, buddy. And he probably wouldn’t have started either. If he did, we would’ve probably prayed it was someone else at his position.

It was always going to be Jaylon Johnson. You don't spend a 2nd round pick on a guy who was considered a 1st round talent to not play him. You just start him out lower on the depth chart to make him "earn" it.

My guess, is Tolliver has the edge right now, due to familiarity and experience.

Hope to see Johnson there sooner than later tho.

The Raiders just released Prince. Thinks the Bears should take him back, if for no other reason than ballast? He knows the playbook and can fill in if/when the secondary gets banged up.

NFL rumors: Raiders release veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara

We'll be in that weird "incumbent, but not really" spot with the CB depth chart. Not sure if that's ideal or not. But if our coaches don't like what they see out of our CB's, obviously having Prince as a fallback is not horrible. I doubt he'd be expensive and most assuredly it would be a 1 year deal. I guess we'll find out.
