Did you watch the Packers?

That's a bad football team, with a great starting QB. People gave up, because their season was over. He's the best player in football imo. And his team is bottom five without him.
I did watch. The team and half the country gave up. Tough to win games that way.
I've said over and over that sure maybe GB isn't the same SB contender once AR goes down but again a lot of that is because of the team roster. No balance. Lack of depth. Part of tgat is coaching and part is GM. The other falls on the players shoulders. They need to compete.

People were saying the same thing when Wentz went down. Philly chose to pull their big boy pants up and went onto win the SB. They could've folded tents like GB but they didn't. NE went 11-5 when Brady went down. Many of other balanced teams have found ways to compete after losing their starter.

Next man up. They're all professionals. The "best" player doesn't always win.

Wentz isn't Rodgers and Philly had one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The best team did win yesterday.

It has also been shown that a boat isn't required to cross the English Channel, but it sure does help

In baseball we know that players can get hot.

For some reason in football it unfathomable that Eli, Foles or Flacco can play at a Franchise QB level. It isn't. Its just not realistic for them to do it over the course of 100 games.

You don't need a franchise QB but you're not getting there with Mark Sanchez, either

Required ? No. Far easier to do with? Yes.

For every Foles, Flacco, Dilfer, Johnson, Hostettler type ring there's 4 Brady, Montana, Manning, Elway type rings

The better team did win.

Wentz fans may disagree. He was likely the MVP if he hadn't got hurt.

Again it's all about balance. Great D with two QBs at very team friendly salaries.

Yep, some people take the challenge while others don't even try.

Jack Lalane for his 70th birthday towed 70 row boats behind him swimming one mile.

you dont know how good ebner is on special teams.

when they ran that sweep play with him i cringed. i knew he'd get hurt. hes also a spare DB, who would have played in this game if needed.

edelman and hightower are irreplaceable. those were huge.

I'm gonna go facepalm here. :burt:

Foles had a yyyuuuuge Brady like performance.

You CAN win the big game without a franchise QB, but you need a stout running game and the '85 Bears or early 2000 era Bucs and Ravens to do it. If you don't have a defense like that, then you need a great performance by your QB.

Throw Peyton's last one in there too. That Bronco defense was elite as well.

Is it necessary? Of course not. Is it the shortest route to get a SB? Absolutely. Nick Foles ain't a franchise player....but he played like it....and last night, the Eagles NEEDED that performance.
The team that trades for him will pay him like a franchise QB.

Yup, but the Eagles have at least one franchise QB and he played 13 games and lead the league in passing touchdowns so not a good example.

The Pats didn't lose Brady to an injury.

Said it before and I'll say it again - in this era, the QB position so overwhelmingly tips the balance of fortunes like no other era before. A great one can potentially turn a 2 win team into a 14 win team overnight (Colts with/out Peyton Manning)...and that kind of turnaround just about never could happen at any other time in history. This advantage practically wipes out any 'parity' that the league puts out to prop up its sport.

Now....give that type of QB a HC with a defensive background, and you have the Pats of the last 2 decades.
