Willie Taggart!

Good hire imo, not the "splashy" hire that we were all told about but still solid

My sources (a couple of ex players who are strong alumni) told me this a week ago that the was most likely the guy. Overall, I like this pick. What Helfrich failed to do was create a strong culture on the team. I think he just presumed Chip's would continue. Willie will bring a very strong culture and hold players more accountable for their lazy play. I would have preferred a couple of others, but this is a good (but not great) hire. Hopefully he can salvage the recruiting a bit for next season.

This must be the next step in the Oregon Football Evolution that fans were talking about with the Helfrich hire.
Round 2.

Sources are saying "this was a no brainer" for Taggert since Oregon has so many costume designs and colors!

Average USF game score this year: 44-31. He'll fit right in.

Did they pick up the phone and dial USF when they meant to call UCF??

And this guy took a 9-5 and 9-4 team before he got there into a 2-10 4-8 8-5 team.

What the fuck is that.

Oregon went full potato

Yes but Oregon thinks "outside the box" so clearly they see a huge upswing in what this guy can bring!

They hired a guy who's 5 games under .500 as a head coach, who's best season is a 5 loss season......

So do they just never want to be good again?

Right! I mean, what kind of program actually hires a head coach with a career losing record as a head coach??

And how did that work out? And ironically, where did he end up and how did that work out?

Just having some fun. He was awful.
Unfortunately it wasn't on here, but when Brady Hoke was hired I made a thread over at ESPN titled, "we are Notre Dame", after their 20 year stretch (and counting) disastrous hires.

Just goes to show the power of beating an "SEC" school. This has all transpired due to W.Kentucky beating Kentucky. Once the Taggart train arrived here in Tampa, he didn't just lose to FCS schools - he got blown out by them...

He seems like a good dude - but damn. I'm so sorry Oregon. Good luck.

Yeah that was destined for disaster. I laughed when michigan fans were all fellating each other after he had a decent first year.

(16-20) at WKU with a loss in his one bowl game, no conference titles
(24-25) at USF with a loss in his one bowl game, no conference titles
18 of his 21 years as a player or coach was spent in the southeast region not the west coast.

I am trying to see the upsides.
Oregon is not going to be content rebuilding. They want a winner now.

Now admittedly winning big at a lower level can get you Charlie Strong or Al Golden.
But, on paper this looks like someone that lesser P5 teams like Iowa State or Wake Forest would be chasing.
