Alright Iowa-ISU score predictions and other thoughts here

This is probably going to be our toughest test to date. First TRUE road game. Hilton is a tough place to play. ISU is a good team led by Melvin Ejim, Georges Niang and the reigning CBB Player of the Week Dustin Hogue. ISU also has a REALLY good playmaking PG in Deandre Kane. Good news is I really dont think ISU has the size or depth to match up with us over the full 40 minutes if we can keep the game close early. Also this ISU team isnt a great 3 point shooting team like past years teams and that is really the only area where Iowa has struggled defensively this year. Kane, while a great slasher, isnt much of a shooter and is prone to turnovers which should lead to some easy transition buckets for the Hawks. In the end I think size, depth and overrall talent win out. Iowa 91 ISU 82. This one is going to be fun.

Interesting tidbits on this game. Only the 2nd time in the 66 year history of the game that both teams come in ranked ( last time was 1987, a 102-100 ISU win in what all Hawk fans know as the Lafester Rhodes game.... YUCK!!!), ISU leads the country in scoring at 91.5 ppg, Iowa is 5th at 89.5, Iowa is 2nd in the country in scoring margin at 25.4 and ISU is 4th at 24.1, Iowa ranks 3rd in FG% defense at 36% while ISU is 4th at 37%, Iowa is ranked number 1 in the computer polls, ISU is 7th. To sum up this is a matchup of 2 of the most dominant teams in the country so far this year. Amped up for this one.

Nervous about this game but very anxious to see how Iowa responds in a hostile environment like this. At least we know that likely 25% of the folks in the stands will be Hawkeye fans.

Its going to be even rowdier than normal with all the build up and the fact its a 830 tip on a Friday. ISU is going to come out STRONG. IF we can weather the early storm we should be able to wear them down I think.

This game is going to be great. I really expect an up and down/high scoring game. And since it's ISU, I would say that shit gets pretty chippy and physical. Woody/McCabe/Kane all foul out.

No. 23 Iowa at No. 17 Iowa State
This is the biggest regular season game in the state of Iowa in a long time -- maybe ever. Both teams are ranked in the national polls, and both are among the top ten nationally in scoring. I love Iowa's depth, but I think they'll have a hard time overcoming the physical presence inside of the Cyclones' Melvin Ejim and Dustin Hogue. Even if they accomplish that, they won't be able to overcome Hilton Magic.

The refs leave much to be desired. Amazing!!! Sure would be nice to see Iowa drive the basket and have the refs start making phantom calls. Thank goodness ISU can't make free throws because these refs are doing everything they can to keep ISU in this game tonight.
