1,300 yards from breaking into the top 5. I think if he can keep his current status, by the end of next season he will be top 5. He should pass Jim Brown in the next game to take the 9 spot.

Seems crazy to think that his name will be among that list. Frank Gore has been a good RB but I guess I've just never viewed him close to that list. Longevity is impressive and obviously he has had plenty of production. Most likely though because he was on such a mediocre team for a big chunk of his career he just won't get the recognition that he deserves.

Didn't realize he was that high on the list, it's amazing considering the health questions out of college.

Btw, Player1 is HOF RB Jerome Bettis.

It wasn't that long ago that Jim Brown was #1 on that list.

Longevity can make a big difference in career stats.

I'm not sold Bettis is a HOF RB, the SB helped, as it often does.

I was surprised to see him that high too. He isn't the RB he used to be but he is still running tough at 33 years old.

With Bettis, I can see why he is in the HOF but wouldn't be shocked if he wasn't. Longevity has a lot to do with it. I look at Gore the same way. A ring would be nice but he still puts up a good argument for the HOF. I wouldn't mind if Gore got in even if his career ended today but if he can be productive for 1-2 more seasons, might be tough to find reasons why he SHOULDNT be in the HOF?

:noidea:

I'm OK with Bettis in the Hall, it's just that of I were a voter he wouldn't have my vote, same thing with Gore, if he gets in I won't be upset, but I wouldn't vote for him. My HOF would be much less crowded.

I don't really get that. He was a nonfactor in that SB.

I think Bettis got in b/c he's had so much media exposure since his retirement. He's a marginal HOF candidate imo, but putting him in lowers the bar for other RBs and like Gooch said, it becomes hard to find reasons not to put in someone like Gore, who has better stats (and better play in a SB).

Supposedly that is not supposed to be a factor when they are voting. It is supposed to be about what they did on the field or at least the impact they made for the game in some way. What we see happen way too often though is popularity plays a huge role in these guys getting in. Doesn't hurt playing for a very storied franchise either. I hate the way they do the voting for the NFL HOF. I wish it would be more like the MLB where votes are released so the voters have to be held accountable of why they voted the way they did and that they are allowed to discuss what was said. This whole secrecy thing of can't talk about just drives me nuts. I don't care if they vote somebody in or not just want to know what the thought process was behind the vote.

Bettis being tied for 10th in rushing TDs when he retired didn't hurt him.

Neither are outstanding to me. But with football, it's more inclusive than most.
