Again I'm betting not winning a SB doesn't sit well with Marino. The question is better careers and the better career starts with winning the SB.

I'm sure it doesn't, same with Tarkenton, but I know those guys who did win would sure love to be in Canton too.

Since Rings matter and this isn't who's the better RB, easy answer is Bettis

If rings are the only way to judge a players career then Reggie Bush > Barry Sanders. See how silly that sounds?

Sanders averaged 5 yards per carry & 99.8 yards per game. Bettis averaged 3.9 & 71.2.

Fine but the OP took the top CAREER yard gainers, and again I'd bet Sanders would gladly trade stats for a SB title.
A lot of you seem I'm saying Bettis is better than Sanders. I assure you I'm not. I don't know of one players who's ultimate goal isn't to win a title. This goes for every pro sport.

Maybe those 6 see that a SB out weighs stats for a better CAREER.

Definitely can't agree with that given by the time Bettis got a ring, he wasn't contributing much to their success.

No doubt Sanders had the better career IMO.

Congratulations for winning the word's laziest sports analyst trophy.

Really Manster? Bettis basically fumbled an appearance to the Super Bowl away requiring his team to pick up the pieces and then 'won' a Super Bowl in quite possibly the worst officiated game of all time in favor of the Steelers. The biggest plays had ZERO to do with Bettis and were made by Rothelisberger, Randle El, and Parker. Bettis actually HURT the team's cause that year.

The fact you're saying 'rings matter' with Bettis is fucking ridiculous. He wasn't even instrumental to their success that year...

For the other forum posters: This right here is a SHINING example of why rings are a stupid metric.
It is a shining example of why rings are a stupid metric. Bettis should be calling and thanking Big Ben, Randel El and Willie Parker and a regular basis. Barry is going to win this because he was a much better player but holding a tournament around 'who had the better career' is going to be rough because the guy rage quit from the NFL because his career was so mismanaged.

You also seem to be putting to much into this. Again I've never said Bettis is better, just that he ended up holding the holy grail of the NFL.
Drop me 4 to 6 spots on all time yards leaders but give me a SB win and I'm signing up.

If you told Bettis you could give him 3,000 more yards but you will take the SB win from him will he sign up?
How about Sanders. Give him a SB but deduct 3000 does he sign up?

I think I actually have the same position as you. I'm one of the 6 that voted for Bettis because he got to end his career being the 'star' player holding up the Super Bowl trophy. IIRC in his home town. Thats the perfect ending to a career where he was legitimately a star player for 4-5 years

Bettis might be the most overrated HOFer ever.

Unless the word "yinz" is a part of your regular vernacular, this is a no-brainer.
