Statistically, Chris Sale is having the best season of any pitcher in the AL. But, he's only pitched 24 innings since the AS break. Can't seriously consider him based on this fact. I understand the strategy involved in keeping him fresh for the playoffs, and I also agree with this strategy given his previous track record in September and October. But the CY is based on a performance over 162 games, not 105.

I think I'd give my vote to Blake Snell for the AL Cy Young. Is he the major's only 20 game winner thus far?

Rewarding a pitcher for his win total is more or less considered prehistoric criteria now days. I'd value stats that have valuevthat is more consistent with todays game like:
Average IPs per start
WAR
ERA+
WHIP
K/9
Team record when starting
Quality starts to games started ratio

Two of your stats are gay.

Snell is an easy call.
He has the ERA, the innings and the win loss record, it's a very complete season resume.

Snell by a lot

The fact that Tampa wasn't eliminated until the final week of the season is as impressive as anything that's happened in baseball this season, and Snell should be rewarded for it

Verlander deserves consideration because without him, the Stros don't hold off the As

But the voters deep throat Boston so I wouldn't rule out Sale

Sale may have been the best on a rate basis, but Snell has a sub-2 ERA with 20+ more innings. Verlander has a considerably higher ERA than both, but he also has over 200 innings and better peripherals than Snell.
