I did the mile swim in the Boy Scouts for a badge.
No way I could do the crawl for it now, backstroke I'd barley make it.

Front crawl non-stop with negative splits. Going faster at the end than when I started.....

I swam competitively from about the time I could walk through most of high school. We'd definitely hit 3k in practices (it's about 130 lengths of a 25 yd pool), but there's no way I could do that now.

As I said, it's not impossible by any means, but it's impressive for your average joe (or Hank, as the case may be), particularly at 60+ years old.

I quit in Grade 11. But started up again after ballooning to 245 in university.

And considering my airbags and intestines are polluted with combustibles, edibles and C2H5OH........

Not bad. I also quit around 11th grade, and although I still swim a lot recreationally, I probably haven't swam 3k worth of laps in the last twenty years.

I'm thinking of getting back into it. It's a hell of a workout.

And I too apologize, and yeah I was really unclear how hard that would be. As I said I swim but not efficiently, I guess in my head I likened it to running two miles which I know I did in 10:58 in my prime.
