I'm very surprised that the Yankees hired Aaron Boone as their new manager, but that being said, I actually think this is a good hire. What do you guys think?
That's why I'm so surprised. If a team like the Phillies or something would've hired him it wouldn't have shocked me, but such a high-profile Yankees team? That is really surprising. I do think he is a smart baseball mind though, so I think it could be good. I guess we'll see.Hard to justify imo. No expierience at any level, coming into a team that just missed the WS. Seems like baseballs version of the Vols search.
Glad he won't be doing commentary anymore.
I don't want to knock his baseball knowledge at all. He's a Boone. But the lack of experience and State of the franchise are a weird combo. That's why I'm so surprised. He had FO expierience and managerial expierience. It kind of reminds me of another team that was a WS contender and hired a first time manager. Only to see their team fall so far that they have the #1 pick in next years draft.
The scary part for me is I liked the Ausmus hire a lot more then I like this one.
I don't think firing Girardi (a fine, if unspectacular manager IMO) for an unproven manager (at any level) makes much sense.
Yankees have hired 44 white managers in a row
i demand justice. social justice.
I really don't care. Just trying to start shit
In their defense, Dusty is only one person and it is going to take a few more years before he can get to all the teamsYankees have hired 44 white managers in a row

I wish Ausmus was still the Tigers manager fwiw.
