I hear ya.....But know what? More teams struggle with the #4/5 slots than don't. This means there's an awful lot NM's out there, and hard to avoid having at least one really.

Yeah I get that, but I would rather have someone that keeps the ball on the ground and misses a few more bats.

And those guys aren't Nick Martinez.....perhaps you didn't get it all?

And Choo (yes that overpaid one) hammers it to get us within one.

If he can hit several more of those to help us win some games and make the wildcard, some people will quit saying it.

Fair or not, he's being paid as a difference maker and it would be nice to see him play like one.

I'm just not a fan of Drew Robinson. K's way too much, seems to K even more with RISP, extremely low avg.

Oh, I guess I forget to mention Robinson isn't a particularly terrific fielder either....Just gave the run back.....

As I've said many times before, b/c the team overpays does not necessitate, nor translate, to the player performing at said paid rate.

If you give player (A) $5 mil per, and he hits 20 HR's, it will seldom if ever translate into "pay him $10 mil per and he'll hit 40."

Baseball, just like life, doesn't work this way.

Neither is Middlebrooks. He had an error last night. If Beltre is going to DH a lot next year, they need to find someone to play third.

and that’s their best quality. There are 4/5 starters that keep ball in the yard better than NM. He’s given up 25 HRs in 100 innings. I’d rather let a kid get ML experience than see him anymore. I’ve never been a fan.

Middlebrooks is a 7 year ML player, with a .227 lifetime avg, and considered a decent to good defensive player.

Robinson is just 4 years younger, yet has 7 years of experience, about 95% of it in the minors, and has a LT minor league avg under .250. Jury is out on his D.

The fact Middlebrooks made an error last night is not relative.

10-4.....It's just hard to have much enthusiasm for Nick at this point.....Too many opportunities, with too few positive results.

But I don't see a kid on this staff which needs to be getting innings, or consideration for same, in 2018. Do you?

I hope Guzman can earn a shot at first in ST if Gallo plays third

I thought you were talking about this year. I’d much rather have Rua in the line up than Robinson. That was my point.
No I was talking about 2018. I should have been more specific. I agree with you on Rua over Robinson.

Honestly, wasn't even sure who this kid was.....3 yrs in minors with a little overall 5 ERA to show for his career, although it appears he had a solid 2nd half with Frisco.

I wouldn't bring him up for squat myself.
