Interesting tidbit that may or may not mean anything:

Measured by team ERA, the three teams with the worst pitching staffs in the AL, Texas, Boston and Detroit, ranked 5th, 2nd and 3rd respectively in AL opening day payrolls. Three teams' average payroll was $168MM.

The three teams with the best pitching staffs in the AL, Oakland, Houston and Tampa Bay, ranked 13th, 15th and 14th respectively in payroll and averaged $77MM.

This is what happens when you give a piece of shit like Rick Porcello $20m/year. :L

I wonder if AJ Preller's hairdo can work a deal for Mike Napoli?

I still think Napoli could be useful to a contender. A righty power bat who plays good defense should have some value. He's also been known to kill it in the postseason. Good "buy low" candidate.

Yeah right, of course you would, and I'd like to see the tribe become relevant again...but that isn't gonna happen anytime soon either..

Hahaha. I love this stuff. A Mets fan busting on the Indians...

The Mets' very existence makes me feel better about being a Tribe fan. I mean, is there a more shining example of ineptitude in MLB than the Mets?

Awww, look at you!

The Mets are two whole games over .500, half heartedly chasing an unlikely playoff berth that would be their first in a decade and you're acting like a guinea who's just seen Rocky.

So precious. Bless your little heart!

The fact you're going in on the Indians while sporting Mets, Jets and Knicks logos in your profile...

I've seen this with other Mets fans. It's as if they have no idea where the Mets rank in the minds of the general population.

The Mets have made the post season fewer times in their 54 year existence than the Indians have in the last twenty. Until they lost their financial asses to Madoff, they consistently spent like the Yankees of the NL, while performing like the old Royals of the NL.

Maybe Mets fans think they're better than they are because they play close to the Yankees? :noidea:

I don't know what the price is on Kimbrel/T. Ross, but the Red Sox should be looking at both of them.

Seems like every team has contacted the Padres about Tyson Ross, he's a wanted man.

My hope every year for the teams I dislike (Angels, Cardinals, Giants) is that they make moves then tank.
You mean like trading away young pitching talent for washed up guys like Brandon Moss?

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Cubs will acquire Dan Haren from the Marlins.

There's no word yet on what the Marlins will receive in return. Haren should fit in nicely at the back-end of the Cubs' rotation, as he's put up a 3.42 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 21 starts this season. The veteran right-hander will be a free agent this winter and has hinted at retirement.

Go Cubbies:suds:
