Cracks in concrete can arise from poor design(architects), poor implementation(Construction crews), or piss poor concrete mixes(Concrete Company. When I worked construction we used to see poor concrete delivered all the time. No additives for strength like fiber even though ordered. Wonder where the money came from to build this thing in the first place...couldn't possibly have been all district budget money, could it? Maybe some private cash involved? Still, it's staggering. My old high school STILL has the wooden grandstands on either side of the field that might seat 5,000 tops. No wrap-around bowl, no billion dollar jumbotron...and we've won state titles, too.

Got no problems with a new stadium, etc. But to build a high school version of Jerry World, reeks of some kind of ignorant arrogance that deserves the whole thing to be condemned.

I played high school football in Texas, in some good old stadiums. They are still standing. My favorite was House Park, in the middle of Austin. It had that sweet, cool green grass, fans seeming right on top of you. That place has to be 50+ years old. The concrete in it is just fine.

Yeah, Alamo Stadium is nice. Says it was built in 1940. Looked up House Park, it was built about the same time, 1939.


Nothing wrong with the cement in those buildings!

The stadium is going to get fixed either by the design and construction team or by their insurance companies. A project this magnitude had to be bonded so the school district will at least come out whole. It's much better for these issues to come out now then 5 to 10 years down the road but whoever's fault this is will probably be bankrupt before it's over.

What i find sad is that they spent this kind of money for one school...period.

My son played for a high school team in Charlotte, NC that won 116 straight games and in the process won 7 or 8 straight State titles at the highest level in the state and they couldnt even get a new set of stands for the visiting side of the field, much less a 60 million dollar meca to honor their achievement duplicated by no other public high school ever. Only California De Lasalle(private school) has won more games in a row and i bet they play in a grand venue themselves.

I've heard everything is bigger in Texas, but what seems to be the biggest is the ego's.

No, what they dont have is schools building 60 million dollar stadiums(high school level) to one up the next competitor. 60 million could buy an awful lot of educational needs.
