That walk against a .180 hitter was absolutely inexcusable. And we saw the results.

My theory is that knuckleballers are more difficult to hit when it's windy. We need to get a knuckleballer, or even get Wakefield out of retirement.

After not being shut out since opening day, the Giants have now been shut out in 4 of the last 16 games.

In those 16 games, the Giants have scored 48 runs (3.0 p/g). In the first 43 games, the Giants were averaging 4.70 runs per game.

In those 16 games, the Giants have allowed 65 runs (4.06 runs per game), while in the first 43 games, they allowed 4.70 runs per game.

As much as we (read: I) kvetch about the pitching, which has been horrid, the last 16 games it has actually been decent. It is the offence which has grossly under-performed. can't win many games scoring 3 runs a game.

Granted, :panda: has been out, Oxy has been hurt, others have been sick.

I love Blanco, as a 4th/defensive OF. No way he should bat leadoff. Until Oxy returns, why not bat Moped leadoff and Stamos second?

They don't run Blanco anyway, so the speed is not an issue. It is taking pitches, and working the count. Blanco saw 9 pitches in 4 AB's today. Granted he singled once, but the leadoff guy has to work the count for more than two pitches.

I'd also be tempted to move Panda down to 5th, and move Pence to 3rd. Or move Posey to 3rd and Panda to 4th. He is hitting .162 in his last ten games.

These guys better buckle down and get after it. There are no reinforcements coming from Fresno, and no trades for a while. These guys have to get it done.
