There's been quite a few other athletes who ruptured their patellar tendon and came back in under a year. Not all players take 2 years as Cruz did

Does that mean it came through the skin?

I heard Girardi had a reaction that said so

I'm assuming so. I heard the same term when Paul George had that nasty injury a few years ago for team USA

You're a doctor now? I find it very hard to believe a doctor missed his diagnosis by 6-12 months. Doesn't seem unrealistic unless something goes wrong in his rehab.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but I remember a time when Grady Sizemore got injured and the official word was 6-8 months, but his career was done.

Not saying that's the case here, but just because the doctors/team puts a timeline on it doesn't always make it so.

Any word on Blake Rutherford, is he not ready?

We won't see Rutherford until 2020, he's just out of High School.

He will be almost MLB ready right around the time the Yankees have their lineup locked and loaded for a sustained run and IMO will end up being traded at the deadline in 2019 or 2020.

I feel like they'll take it slow with him but I don't think it is a stretch to see him back next may which would be 10 or 11 months recovery. We'll see though

That is due to shitty trainers

Word.

Is there better example of abject ineptitude in Major League Baseball than the New York Mets? From the owners, to the front office, to the managers, to the players and probably even the grounds crew and parking attendants they're just rife with failure.

I bet their infield has grubs.

I would forget about Fowler and focus on guys who can help this team; if he comes back great but it's water under the bridge at this point. It sucks, he was a promising player and a potential trade chip next month.

interesting that the sox passed on both corey seager AND marcus strohman to draft deven marerro, who hits like a 5 year old with a whiffle ball bat.

ron darling is right. the mets push strength training and weight lifting for their young pitchers, and thats the worst thing you can have a young pitcher do.

build mass on ligaments that are used to carrying a certain load.

Absolutely. I have no knowledge of that injury so I have nothing more to add than when it comes to serious shit, teams never say, "oh yeah, man, it's fucking bad. Dude's fucked."

I heard yesterday that players used to have to wait till Billy Martin left the building to hit the weight room, he thought it was terrible for a player

David Wells, one of the most durable pitchers ever, once said "You dont break fat"

yup

its absolutely a problem. my dads friend is a surgeon at st vincents in worcester...says he works on 3 times more highschool and college pitchers in the past 10 years than he did in the previous 20. he says its absolutely weight lifting.
