Banister should have known better after last inning. Way to hand the pen another bad situation.

In the 5th. He made a perfect pitch, which turned into a bloop single to left, and was almost caught. Then a seeing eye grounder goes past EA. Hard hit single, yet no run. Rua (who's right at getting permanently on my shit list) screws a foul-pop-up, and yet Perez got a pop-up to Choo for the 1st out. K's the pitcher, for out 2. Routine FO to left for the 3rd out.

Bottom line, through 5, no runs, 1 W/5K's. Too many pitches, give ya that. But overall, I'll take this. Really, won't you? And I know where you're coming from, but just for today, this is a damn nice outing IMO.
Yes a good quality start but as you mentioned too many pitches. Dunno should have had a fresh arm out there in the 6th with Harper and crew coming up.

Absolutely agree 100% on both points. I was afraid you'd take my response as too harshly stated. Glad you didn't too. ha

Like you said, this is more on Banister than Perez. Martin had already thrown 91 pitches through 5 and was able to escape unscathed. Which quite honestly is the kind of game he's been known to spit-the-bit in. But he hung tough in the 5th, and in our opinion (think anyway) he should have never come out for the 6th.

Short term pain....... long term gain. The Spurs tanked one year, got Tim Duncan, and the rest is history. If you're not going to be a playoff team, you might as well cut your losses, lose as many games as you can while simultaneously evaluating younger players, and get the best draft position possible. Look at the Astros now. They tanked and built a good team around losing on purpose for a few years.
I understand what you mean. When we won so many games under Bogar after Wash quit it really messed up our draft pick. Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps back to get the momentum to move forward several steps.

Isn't Bogar the reason the Astros got Bregman instead of us? I don't follow MLB draft very closely.

Bregman and Swanson went before we got Tate.

Oh sonny boy watched that slide and said something similar. He's 12 and his coach is hard on proper sliding ...I'm his coach :-)

Purposely losing means you learn defeat. Not a healthy thing.

The Astros were not bad on purpose all those years. They just sucked naturally and had inefficient leadership in the clubhouse and front office.

Not in my book to ever lose.:nono: Can't imagine such. If we fought wars like that, we would be speaking German tonight.
