Supposedly Ham ensured Wood he would have a "large role", not sure exactly what that entails just yet. Somebody's going to feel like they're not getting enough minutes.

They definitely have a glut of forwards. I think we'll end up seeing a couple of them traded during the season.

I think they'll limit minutes for Lebron and AD if possible (as long as it doesn't cost games), which will help a little. A potential extension for Vando this year would be interesting. Would they pay up for a guy with a seemingly diminishing role as the team adds depth?

Yeah let’s not forget they’re going to load manage those 2 heavily

I'm not sure his role will continue to diminish. Ham will always find minutes for him because of his defense. But I've also been reading that he's been working on his offense, particularly the corner 3. If he can hit that at a 35%ish clip, it won't be as necessary to pull him for someone with more offense.

I just don't get what he's doing.

I get why he opted in, he wasn't getting anywhere close to the $35 million or whatever in FA.

I also get that Morey said he'd trade him quickly.

But quickly is relative and Harden has to know that the Sixers are going to try to work the best deal they can. All he's doing now is continuing to hurt his own value and making himself harder to trade.

It’s no longer relative

If he traded him July 31, that might be relative

Of course he’s going to do this

It’s his way to apply pressure and still get paid

Jimmy butler style

Hence the glut of forwards. The more guys that can pick up the slack, the less the Lakers have to play them. Then, trade a couple around the deadline when you'd start playing them more to ramp up to the playoffs anyway.

There is always some idiot suggesting blockbuster trades - The last one suggests the Lakers could trade for James Harden to team with Davis and Lebron James - My thoughts is HELL NO

You have to assume that guys like Hayes, Prince, Wood, and Reddish are here just for this season (as vet mins), so if he can improve that jumper (and actually finish a put-back without getting rejected or stripped), a reasonable extension would be warranted.

Those exits make room for Castleton, Lewis, and maybe Hodge to get roles next season.

AD back on this bs?

Don't see that amounting to much, unless he can elevate his perimeter shooting to play with Hayes instead of opposite him. I suppose Wood could play some center if they're playing against an easy matchup there.

Of course, Lakers could still use their 15th spot on another big, but they already have a glut of PF options. If they're going to use #15 now, it also could be backcourt:

PG: D-Lo, Vincent, JH-S
SG: Reaves, Christie
SF: James, Reddish, Lewis
PF: Rui, Vando, Prince
C: AD, Wood, Hayes

Positions are tough to lock down (does Lewis play some 2? Reaves will play some 1, DLo some 2, Prince some 3, Lebron some 4, etc.). The 2-way guys Castleton (C), Hodge (G) and Fudge (F) could also play in spots, although I wouldn't expect to see Fudge active much at all.

That said, it wouldn't take much for him to play more PF this year, since he played C almost exclusively last season.

I guess the days of anyone saying I’m looking forward to the season and doing anything I can to help the team are over.

All depends on how the question was framed. Clearly the writer was looking for clicks...

Davis, L.A.’s starting center the past two seasons, “made it clear” to the Lakers entering the offseason that he wanted more support at center so he wouldn’t have to play the position “so much” during the regular season, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin..
