We now know Nathaniel Hackett will be the next HC. The coordinators have yet to be hired, but the OC doesn't matter as Hackett will run his system and the DC seems likely to reaming a 3-4 based on the canidates. I am probably wrong, but for this I am going to assume the defense will remain a 3-4.

We have had some conversations on trading for a QB, specifically Rodgers. I think it is easy to we need a QB so trade for Rodgers or Wilson, or not wanting to give up several picks and players. I think we need to look at were the roster is at, and what can we trade and still be competitive this year. The roster Below is per Spotrack.com.

Agreed. Yes I know he has a fumbling issue but he was also one of our only bright spots on Offense. The dude has a nose for the endzone and until he fumbles more than he scores I say he has a spot on this team.

I have been the biggest Melvin Gordon advocate since we signed him so I am not going to go into detail and repeat myself as I am sure everyone is tired of me talking about him.... But... Having Javonte and Melvin Gordon on the same team is such a huge benefit to this team and it will be even more beneficial when we get an actual pass game going. These two make each other more effective.

Even though I love Alexander Johnson, I'd like to see Josey Jewell and Kenny Young resigned to go with Brandon Browning ... Young and Browning had some great games together - like at Dallas, where we kept them scoreless for most of the game ...

Jewell looked like he had taken another step forward in the games prior to the injury ... I would all for drafting a big time ILB too

I really liked what I saw from Nakobe Dean, but if we trade for a QB, he would not be an option.

The more I think about it, the more I let them walk. Maybe Young or Jewell for leadership on a team friendly deal, but we need depth. Id rather find that in the draft than a second contract with injury prone guys.

No question marks about Stearns. He's the starter, and he stays healthy he's going to be a beast. Great Ball hawk too.

I would surely focus on re-signing one of Jewell or Johnson. Both would be nice but I doubt it.

I would focus on both of them over Kenny Young. If you re-sign neither then focus on Young. Young is a high energetic guy who brings a pop and athletic ability but he isn't as reliable as Johnson or Jewell. He misses a lot more tackles then them. He is sorta a do or die ILB where the other two are more depenable but less fancy players. Big reason why the Rams traded Young is because of his inconsistent play. Jewell and Johnson are consistent. Focus on them first. I think we re-sign one of Johnson/Jewell and probably let Young and the other walk and start Browning... I personally hate to see any of these ILB's leave. Johnson or Jewell could do a one year deal with their injuries though trying to cash in on a bigger deal next year. Will be interesting. We are really good at ILB either way you look at it. Jonas Griffith was even really good when called upon last year and Micah Kiser is at least a depth guy who can start if needed but we have better options there. Kiser played well late in the year. Basically an ILB but Justin Strnad plugged into our lineup last year played well. Young will come cheaper then Jewell or Johnson but I am going to guess we give one of Jewell or Johnson a decent contract. They both have earned it. With Browning emerging last year (hope he can stay healthy) we don't have to pay both Johnson and Jewell. I can't imagine we don't pay one of them though.

IMO - you keep Jewell over AJ - he's a perfectionist and a leader on the field.

This is the way I am leaning.. But he is also from Iowa. ;)

I read something early in the season where Alexander Johnson was rated the #1 ILB by PFT up until his injury.

The other thing with Alexander Johnson is with any long term deal remember, he is a little older then his years of NFL experience as he was delayed in making it to the NFL after his legal issue was finally resolved. He just turned 30.

AJ performed great at what he was asked to do - what he was asked to do had some limitations.
