The narrative from the start of the season was that Durant was leaving. Nobody within the organization thought he was going to resign again.

The odds of the Warriors resigning him actually increased after the injury because it scares away teams like the Knicks and might have changed KD’s perspective on the importance of a 5th year.

On that last part I agree. We don't know. If I had to guess he was probably angry at the time when emotion was taking over some. More time to think maybe he changed his mind or possible he just didn't want any controversy.
