Why, Rey?

Splitting hairs because I'm a big fan of Saquon, but Zeke was more decisive getting to areas or hitting spots when he came out. Saquon sometimes tries to do way too much ... but again, we're splitting hairs. Barkley has another year to improve his game that much more. Zeke has also proven himself already at the pro level ... so if I had to pick one I'd pick the guy who's already a sure thing :)

Thinking, thinking, thinking...
Oh yeah, 1985, Curt Warner, the last PSU RB worth of a Day 1-2 pick. Where were you? I was a 14-year-old and, embarrassingly (i.e. non-Eaglely), I was a Seahawks fan (put SL80 on a pedestal).

I'll pass on Barkley, until Round 3.

Larry Johnson had a couple of big seasons for the Chiefs before injuries and suspensions eventually took him out.

All the RB talk is good, and even if Jones and Douglas become legitimate NFL players, we still need DBs, can't ever have enough of those. Any guys in particular catching anyone's eye going into this season?

I like Royce Freeman from Oregon - thought he was going to declare this year but he would be a nice option to look at in '18.

FWIW:

SI has us taking Saquon Barkley 10th overall in their very early 2018 mock draft.

What a bunch of dicks slotting us at 6-10.

Totally ridiculous. I think we got a good shot challenging for a playoff spot this year. But I don't believe we will be top 10 bad.

What round did Kijanna Carter go?

1st round to Cincinnati, I believe. I think he was the first pick that year. Injuries kept him from playing at all.

Yep Ist pick overall. 59 total games in 8 seasons.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller on Barkley:

  1. Forget any talk that the running back position has been devalued in the NFL after two straight seasons of backs coming off the board at No. 4 overall. Next year, Saquon Barkley has a chance to do them one better.

The New York Jets may be looking at a Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold here next season; it all depends on if we see Christian Hackenberg and how he looks. Right now, no one outside the Jets' facility knows how he's developed throughout his redshirt rookie season. Given the potential there, I have the team passing on a quarterback for a dynamic running back that can change an offense immediately.

Barkley has amazing vision and balance and is a complete package of everything you want in a back. He's more Ezekiel Elliott than Leonard Fournette and will be my early pick for the Heisman.

If we get him, we will be in for some real good battles between those two!
