I think Bird will be the best overall hitter on the team

Has there ever been a swing more made for that stadium?

just need him to play 140-150

So freaking talented. 4 months later I still can't believe he took Andrew Miller into the 2nd deck. If he stays healthy he's an MVP candidate.

Piece on ESPN making a case for Judge leading off

Unconventional, but pretty interesting angle

He did lead the league in walks. But also in Ks. By a mile. Yeah, I don't think that's happening. Plus I love Gardner there seeing about 10 pitches to start the game.

Great swing, but most of his problems appear to be shoulders up....The whole ankle injury was puzzling at best...Went to multiple doctors and all had different views...Very few lefties crush a pitch like that off Miller....Huge potential if healthy

WTH is going on in here? We have Ed Whitson, Cliff Johnson, and @nynasty sightings all in the same week. It seems like I am going to have to pay more attention to this thread this year.

I could see them bringing back Nunez for a one year deal to keep Andujar down until April 15th. Other then that I don't think there is much to do with this roster until the season starts.

Early predictions:

1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
3. Toronto Blue Jays
4. Tampa Bay Rays
5. Baltimore Orioles

I'd rank us 4th if we had some semblance of a starting rotation but only have two guys officially slotted there at the moment.

Pretty much how I'd have it. I think the Jays will be a lot better than last year and should contend for a Wild Card, though I don't think they have the pitching to keep pace with the Sox/Yanks. That offense should be a lot better.

Red Sox offense should be better next season, but 1B/DH still seem pretty iffy and I'm a bit worried about the Sox infield depth, especially if Pedroia's hurting. The rotation should be among the best in the AL (if not MLB). I expect some regression from Pomeranz, but I think Porcello and Price have better 2018 seasons. Hopefully Rodriguez won't miss a lot of time in 2018. He's shown flashes of being a mid-rotation guy, but his progress has been thwarted by several injuries. I'm a bit worried about the Sox bullpen regressing.

Should be a good race, but I expect the Yanks offense/bullpen to give them a slight edge.

I'd agree with that as of right now. With so many free agents still not signed it's tough to say. Red Sox/Yankees haven't finished 1/2 in back to back seasons since they finished 1/2 in 8 straight years from 1998-2005

Id bet a fare sum of money on JD finally landing in Boston, Id almost toss him into any prediction/projections for this season

If he is. I think Yankees/Red Sox are battling at the top. If he's not, Yankees win the division by 6 or 7 games and it's a lock by early-September.

Think its just a game of chicken, dont see some mystery team jumping in saying "Ok JD, here is your $180 million"

I read 5 for $125M....Is JD looking for 6+ years? These long term contracts are crippling if you miss the target completely...

Yeah, its Boras, who seems to be getting more and more delusional

Apparently the Sox offer went from $100-$125, and I havent even heard another team approaching that number

At the end of the day, I dont know where else he would end up, and I hear he is sooooo bad in the field, he will have to land somewhere he could DH

That's the rumored offer from Boston, that's been extended for at least a month. Boras apparently thinks he can do better. Camps open in 2 weeks so it's going to be interesting.

I hear Arrietta is one guy that can really drag into ST, he is one guy that is not coming near what he is looking for

Lynn and Cobb still out there, thought those guys would be bargains, but even they are looking for huge money
