Unless there's no interest anywhere else, I'm not sure why Rondo would want to play for the Lakers. After his performance in the playoffs, I'm surprised there isn't some team out there desperate for a point guard that has snatched him up.

You can't imagine why anybody would want to play for the Lakers....

lol... not sure the move is worth so many exclamation points. :D

He's a very good defender and he can score 14-15ppg.....while starting next to Ball. Most importantly, it's a 1 year deal.

Haha, nope. Such a terrible franchise. :D

But seriously -- why would Rondo want to join a team that just drafted a PG with the 2nd overall pick and is unlikely to compete for a playoff spot this year? I get that he's taken on mentoring roles at some of his previous spots but I've got to think that he'd prefer to have both playing time and a chance to make the playoffs.

I'm not so sure getting Pope is worth singing a song over... maybe a head nod.

Can't believe Noel still thinks he deserves a max contract.

Yep I'm with you when it comes to KCP. At least it's only a 1 yr deal though. I would be sick to my stomach if my team gave this guy a multiyear deal at 18 mil yearly.

Me too. I might have had to go out and buy a Magic Johnson jersey so I could burn it. lol

Seriously though, I like the patience that Magic and Pelinka have shown so far. I was worried that their inexperience would lead them to doing a deal that could cut into next years cap space and hurt their big game hunting chances.

So far, so good.

Perhaps. I'm not sold on them getting out of the suck cellar yet... where's the defense?

They're not getting out of the suck cellar yet. The ceiling for this roster is 30-35 wins. Climbing out of the suck cellar hopefully happens in 2018 when they can go after a couple of top FA's.

Hope we stay away from Rondo....still trying to get him apparently. Clarkson is a good passer and can back up Ball for 12-13mpg while being our super sub 6th man.

I wouldn't mind Rondo. The Lakers could get him on 1 year deal for $4.3 million on something called the "room exception." From what I've read and heard, the young guys in Chicago loved him as a mentor last year.

No idea. But there seems to have been mutual interest for a little while now. All the Lakers have left is a 1 year $4.3 million dollar "room exception" and no one seems to be kicking down Rondo's door to sign him.

Maybe teams figure he's too old to really help? The Lakers only real interest would be as mentor.

At most lol. He is an avg basketball player.
Yea. The 1 yr contract makes it ok... he is a decent, if limited, defender... and the Lakers could certainly use that.

Yeah for sure. He will be guarding the best SG/SF

If I were Rondo and I knew I'd only be getting a small role on a team, I'd probably rather take a vet minimum deal with the Thunder or Cavaliers or somebody else who will be good than take $4 million to be a mentor on a bad team. But I'm not Rondo and it's easy for me to turn down three million hypothetical dollars. Plus, who knows if any of the contenders even want him.
