KCP to the Lakers on a 1-year 18m contract, per Windhorst. Great get for them.
Yep....a 1 year audition.

He's a good defender. But, a brutal shooter.

He's young. So, that can be fixed.

Best part of this deal might not be obvious to some.

KCP is a Klutch Client.

This would have marked the 1st Epic Fail for Rich Paul.

Lakers prevented that.

Maybe some of his other Clients will remember that next Summer?

He's worth a flyer but I don't see him much as anything than a good rotational player. His development essentially stalled out the last 3 years. He's basically a 3 and D player with a streaky 3 point shot and can really only play defense against other 2 guard (too slow for PGs, too weak for bigger more skilled forwards). Maybe a change of scenery jumpstarts him again so it worth it given the circumstances.

Dude does have one of the best names though. Maybe not good enough to make the All Time Best NBA Names team, but good enough to be 1st team among current players

Current players:

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Bismack Biyombo
Quincy Acy
Kristaps Porzingis
Giannis Antetokoumpo

All time:

Shaquille O'Neal
Metta World Peace
Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje
World B. Free
Uwe Blab
God Shammgod
Manute Bol
Fat Lever
Pooh Richardson
Detlef Schrempf

Might have to put Giannis and Bismack on here

Could be enough to push their pick into the 6-10 range so that it doesn't end up in Boston's hands.

Lakers pick is not protected this year. They have no picks in this upcoming draft. If KCP plays well the Lakers can trade him for picks in this next draft to a team who wants a shot at the championship. Same with Brooks, but they are both expiring contracts so the team in need must give up expiring contracts too.

Yep I'm with you when it comes to KCP. At least it's only a 1 yr deal though. I would be sick to my stomach if my team gave this guy a multiyear deal at 18 mil yearly.

Either way I don't see the Lakers being that bad IMO to get a top 5 pick
Perhaps. I'm not sold on them getting out of the suck cellar yet... where's the defense?

I don't know but still think they'll be better than the following teams at least:

Brooklyn
Phoenix
Sacramento
Orlando
Chicago

Then there is also a chance they're better than a team like Dallas or the Knicks (especially if they trade Melo)

I can't argue much with you on this front. All these teams are quite poor... and I'd grudgingly admit the Lakers have a better looking offense than any of the above.

We didn't even mention more Indiana.

Hope we stay away from Rondo....still trying to get him apparently. Clarkson is a good passer and can back up Ball for 12-13mpg while being our super sub 6th man.

Eh. I'm not so sure about most of those teams. Phoenix could very well improve this year (their roster looks better than the Lakers' roster to me), Sacramento is always underrated and seems to fall in the 6-10 range despite people saying they're a bottom 5 team, Orlando could improve, and Brooklyn may not be done putting their roster together (although, whatever they do will probably not be enough to move the needle much). Still, I think they find a way to win some games and probably end up in the 6-10 range. Plus, they've got no incentive to tank this year.

Unless there's no interest anywhere else, I'm not sure why Rondo would want to play for the Lakers. After his performance in the playoffs, I'm surprised there isn't some team out there desperate for a point guard that has snatched him up.
