I always thought if Dawkins did well at Stanford, then he'd be a strong candidate to succeed Coach K at Duke.
Jamie Dixon leaving Pitt to coach TCU
It will ever be him or Capel
Yeah, my line of thinking was, if Dawkins was able to succeed at a highly prestigious university like Stanford, then that would definitely have given him an advantage over all of the other potential candidates. Its irrelevant now, as Dawkins only took Stanford to one NCAA Tournament.
Very true, redseat. I would be surprised if Coach K did not have a heavy influence on who his successor is.
Oh I am almost positive Duke is going to let him select his successor. I mean they would be stupid not to let him, he's earned it. Pretty sure he would be an excellent judge of talent of who could take his place, better than the AD.

I'm pretty sure Pitt fans are happier about this than TCU fans.
I'm shocked at Dixon leaving Pitt. I know he went to TCU, but thought he was a big time, big conference coach.
The Big12 isn't a big conference?
I gotta admit there is some allure about being the guy to bring your alma mater back to prominence.
I'm guilty of east coast bias. Yes....there's no comparing the B12 with the BE and ACC. NE bball is where the hardened players grow up. Everyone out west is a poooosie.
Maybe the old big east.
But that's dead.
Notre Dame, Miami and BC are the main culprits for killing it.
And SU.
But I will never downplay those little gyms in the NE. Butler and Marquette were good additions. GTown and Nova will always draw good talent. I think they will continue to do well.
