Hammond grew up a little bit this week. Inside presence is something we've lacked for forever. Im a little old school but to me, good play inside is essential to be successful. He'll have a tough match up Tuesday with Jekiri. We'll see if he can continue to grow.

Need to go on a 5-0 run to close out OOC.

That means beating the cretins in Omaha.

That would be 10 wins going into conference play.

Yep.

It would also mean a good start towards an NIT berth. We'd need 9 more wins on top of that (including a big win somewhere) to make the NCAA tourney.

10 more would guarantee a spot.

On the upside, the Huskers qualify for the field of 64. If they run it into conference, there's a chance. We have some young guys with a lot of upside.

Man, we just can't get beat so badly at the foul line like that. Especially at home. That is ridiculous.

It's amazing we even had a chance to win that game when Miami comes on the road and scores half of their points from the charity stripe.

If we didn't shoot the ball so well from the field we would have gotten blown out.

I love it how Nebraska was picked to finish last in the B1G, yet last night the announcers were saying that it was a "quality win" for Miami come tourney selection time.

I don't get it. I mean I like to think Nebraska isn't the worst team in the B1G, but aside from being on the road, how can beating the cellar dweller of the B1G be a quality win? Do we suck or don't we suck?

I guess my overall point is that analysts and commentators don't know what the fuck they're saying half the time. And their opinion changes game to game week to week. And I hate when they say "I think the team that has the fewest turnovers and makes the least amount of mistakes will win the game". Well no shit Sherlock! They pay you to say that!?

Ok. Rant over.

Put 2 and 2 together, JJM

Nebraska was in that game because NU only had 12 turnovers and played aggressive. Shields being hot (28) helped greatly, but if he's not taking those shots someone else is. Opponent game plan is to take White III out of the game.

Miami went to the foul line so much because Nebraska had to play aggressive to hang. It was game-plan and that's the risk. Man to man on the roster Miami is the better team so you have to equalize that somehow.

I think if Tai doesn't foul out at the end of regulation, Nebraska wins that game.

I think NU is a Top 64 team and if they can stay focused on turnovers they'll win the next 5 and go better than .500 (56%) in Big 10 play. I'm pretty confident they are a March bubble team at 20 wins.

Nova was way out of NU's league, but lower Top 25 teams Cincy and Miami came down to the wire.

Believe it or not, even losing those games helps RPI if those teams maintain their level of play. This is a better NU team than the one that went dancing 2 years ago.

The nice thing about being a commentator is you have the platform in an empty room. If you're wrong about something there's nobody to call you out on it. Just change the message the next week and you look like a sage.

My pre-season expectations were very small for this team, but after watching them the first 3 games I could see they were beating teams they out-matched like they should. That this is a far better team than the entirety of last season.
Winning 9 or 10 games in league play is not unrealistic at all.

Nearly all of those fouls were due to poor Defense...

Miami has quick slashing guards and they just beat us off the dribble over and over again. Thus the reason Tai ended up with the most.

I mean I get what you're sayin en sech, but we shot lights out. Nearly 50% from the field. We might do that a couple more times this season.

The only way to compensate for those "quick slashing guards" is to play aggressive and take chances. You're going to commit fouls doing that, but it's better than letting them run by you.

A couple more steals as opposed to fouls and Nebraska wins that game in regulation.

That is my point.

Don't beat yourself up because Nebraska took two Top 25 teams to the wire in 5 days.

That is a very promising thing going into conference play where only 5 of 14 teams are clearly better than Nebraska. The other 9 are all beatable.

I'm not at all upset with how we're competing. In my opinion though, Webster did get run by last night over and over, and in order to stop an easy basket he had to reach or get the guy with the body as he went by.

Shields is a good example of a guy who gets fouls from being aggressive.

I say the Huskers go at least .500 in Big 10 Regular Season play.

Avy bet? One week.
