All I can say is at #11 if that's the truth, we need to step up in a big way. I look at this as being an honor of having been ranked that high. The Highest in the PAC12 that is. I hope we can honestly say after the season we deserved that ranking by winning games.

I have you @ #13 and don't use win%. It's a good schedule.

Florida being weak hurt a lot. The East is already the weaker side of the SEC. We have Florida this year as our East game, so I'm hoping like hell they are improved. I think they pretty much have to be, they were injury plagued last year.

But it's still a matter of what I mentioned about Texas being 26. We have teams that wouldn't rank in the top100 right now, and those teams hurt SoS as SoS is an average. They totally cancel out the good games, and even though you are playing tough teams you still end up with a mediocre at best SoS. And you can still play team and win decently easy if they are ranked in the 40-60 area and be well rewarded in SoS.

2nd year in a row Alabama has had a weaker schedule. We did have decently tough schedules and it's like we over compensated for it(2010 we had 6 SEC teams coming off byes) and then the SEC got weaker top to bottom.

So yep, I'm hoping lots of teams on our schedule are improved.

Florida shouldn't open the season ranked. But the way the over rating the conference works they will have 3 wins most likely over trash opponents. Idaho, Eastern Michigan and Kentucky. Then they will get vaulted into top 25. Alabama plays them the following week. On paper it says oh alabama beat the number 21 team. When in all actuality that team didn't deserve to be ranked

Come on man. Nobody else on here has an ACC team that is even remotely relevant. Have to mess with someone.

Can't say I'm surprised about ND. Schedule is brutal. Easiest game is by far Purdue, but even that is always a somewhat contested game because of the rivalry. Essentially there are no gimmies on the schedule at all.

It's more about where they end up at the end of the season, not when you play them.

Not in the NCAA method.

this is true, but there is still an effect. FCS is thrown out now, but even that skews the numbers. By giving that essentially a 0, you are implying that a FCS school is the same as playing an average FBS school on your schedule. It should be considered a bad game and lower for SOS, but it does not.

Tennessee at #3... I do believe that UTK's 2013 SOS was up there as well. It gives support for patience, something all Vols fans have learned and are still learning. May the fates grant us a couple of victories that will lift our spirits in 2014. Last year, it was USCe. Ah... It is always good to see the Vols defeat a team coached by the Old Visor Tosser.

I looked at ND's schedule. You are right, there isn't one true gimme.

They should be heavily favored vs Rice and Purdue, but not really gimme cupcake games.

Purdue may be considered such, but with in state rivalries strange things can happen.

Your #49 ranking also includes some really weak teams. But it sure beats hell out of Oklahoma's #93. And Alabama is #95? That means OU and Bama have a couple of tough games and the rest are mostly marshmallows.
LOL, so the Sooners beat Bama last season and sit at #93, while Bama sits at #95. Hmm? This SOS BS, just doesn't make much sense to me, but again I'm an old man. :L

Strength of Schedule is a ranking of how difficult a teams schedule is. It has nothing to do with who wins or losses the games, and it has nothing to do with last years games either.
