2-2 so far.

Slow start.

I was encouraged in the 1st half of the Texas game until we fell apart in the 2nd.

Missed the Cuse game, but heard it was kind of ugly.

Hope we can get it together soon and get some early confidence.

Who's gonna be the team leader? White? Olaseni?

This is shaping up to be an identical season as last year's. If teams plays the team physical, they'll lose a lot of games. Gesell can't shoot - especially on freethrows. Olgsby can't get open unless his defender falls down. White will hide at crucial times of games versus stepping up and dominating. Uthoff is streaky. Woodburry, too soft - but hasn't been committing many stupid fouls this season.

I'm in favor of benching Gesell and starting Clemmons.

Fran has athletic players, but when it is time to grind...the guys can't create off the dribble (the exception here is Clemmons -- he can create off the dribble.)

The win over UNC was good. Right?

Provided Iowa wins games. The win at UNC will be important. If Iowa doesn't win from here on out, then it won't matter. I'll take a win on the road, especially in the ACC. Just need to get some big wins the rest of the way.

If the Hawks continue playing that kind of D they'll win 20. Their problem is they lost their go-to scorer in Marble so now they really have to score in the flow of the game. When the shot clock runs down they have few guys who can create their own shot. Sure would like to see Woodbury get a consistent post-up game, it's slightly better this year so far but not as good as it should be.

Woody has a nice shot. I would like to see him able to get some separation down low so he can take more. Needs about 30 more pounds of beef on him.

I keep waiting for him to have that Brad Lohaus moment when he just starts to "get it." Brad Lohaus, Acie Earl, Les Jepsen....none of 'em could barely walk for their first few years and all of 'em turned into NBA caliber players. I feel like Woodbury has more athleticism than all of them yet he's not developing as the others did. He has flashes of brilliance then misses a layup or lets a 6' guard out jump him for a rebound. Might just need more mental toughness, which the staff has to help with (break him down!).

Iowa better find someone that can shoot this season, otherwise its going to be a very long season. Better make it about 9 guys that can shoot when they are on the floor. Very pathetic performance tonight against the Cyclones.

With that blowout, Palm doesn't even have Iowa in the NCAA tourney in his latest bracketology thing...but Penn State is in...go figure, it's December

After another 2nd half giant turd laid on the court, I am calling Iowa in the NIT. From the message boards and articles I read the 2nd half issues are mostly due to a lack of leadership, haven't been able to watch the games so not sure, guess they miss Marble more than I thought, but 15 points is never going to get it done. A team score 44 isn't going to get it done. Another Iowa team with high potential sees a season start to go down the drain, will they pick it up or just be like football and watch it drain away

At this rate, Iowa will be lucky to get a bid to the NIT. Maybe to the CBI tournament at this point.

This team needs to find its confidence. The schedule isn't set up to generate that confidence though.
Agreed, we shall see...

Looked decent against a bad Bugeater team the other night. I know MSU is down a little this year so far, but I see tonight's game against Sparty as a good test.

I knew it after the first few possessions in the 2nd half - Iowa turnover, MSU dunk, Iowa missed shot, MSU 3, Iowa missed shot, MSU 3. We still had the lead but I could see where it was heading. Izzo, imho, is the best coach on the planet with Bellichek and Coach K 2nd and 3rd. He got in the refs ear with that T and from that point on all the calls went against Iowa and the momentum completely did a 180.

Yep, I saw it too and with 3 min gone in the 2nd half, knew the game was lost. History repeats itself big-time for Iowa.

..and Izzo is the best.
