“@mbenson6: Div I, Most Losses After Leading at the Half - Since 2010-11

Hofstra - 28
UC Davis - 26
Iowa - 25
South Carolina St.- 25
E. Washington - 25”

One these is not like the other. It's blatantly obvious that Fran has difficulties implementing a second half plan of attack and the above numbers prove it.

Big test tonight @ Wisconsin. Hopefully we can make a game of it and hold our own, but since the AP just dropped us into #25, it might be ugly..

it sure did, hard to beat a team that has 1 TO against you, and shoots the lights out...just a bump, shake it off and move on to the next one, don't think about it at all

Woody needs to find another 50-60lbs if he's gonna thug it up.

Hawks not looking good after a strong start @ Purdue. Woody with 2 fouls in first 4 mins has to ride the bench most of the 1st half, Aaron White hurts his collarbone? and not playing this 1st half, Oglesby is being typical and shooting bricks.

With 11 conference games remaining, how many wins do the Hawkeyes get? I think 6-5 might be pretty close to form here. Wouldn't be surprised if Iowa goes 4-7 either. I'm hoping best case scenario to be 7-4.

Not a good performance today by the Hawks. The team looks like they all have heavy legs. Iowa didn't shoot the ball well, or defend, today. Iowa couldn't block out. And all of the forced shots in the second half amazed me. Gesell seems to be regressing as a veteran/tested point guard. His decision making today was very poor. Pulling 6 more wins might be a stretch for this team.

I don't see the game plan for 40 minutes. Woodbury played well to start the game and then he disappears for the rest of the game. Just seems like two 20-minute game plans: one for each half.

I don't see a player on this team that desires to dominate for an entire game. This is a veteran and tested team that appears to lack leadership at critical junctures of games. The forced shots, poor passes, and lack of defense all speaks to a lack of leadership.

Looks like this team is NIT bound.

Can't really disagree with anything in hoop's assessment. He's right on with the lack of game plan. It seems we constantly go away from what is working. We definitely have a lack of talent and combine that with lack of confidence, I agree we're NIT bound.

What in God's name has happened with our ability to shoot from the perimeter? Ogelsby has completely lost his shot and nobody else seems to want the shot. I do like Gesell and I think he and White are the only guys looking to create offense, but it's clearly not enough to make us anything other than a middle of the pack team.

The game has been over for awhile now....and I think Oglesby is still trying to get open....

I'm in favor of benching Gesell and going with Clemons the rest of the way. Gesell makes terrible decisions, terrible fouls/foul trouble, and dribbles into the defense on too many drives versus stroking the pull-up jumper. For all of his starts, he isn't getting better. Time to bring him off the bench.

I don't think Oglesby ever HAD a shot to be honest. I think his first year was the anomaly, he's just not a very good basketball player and seriously can't shoot.

Very Troy Skinner-ish.

Lot of optimism for me. After the game Sunday vs maryland iowa will be through with the tough part of the schedule. If they get to 6-4 on Sunday I'd think 11-7 or 12-6 in conference is pretty likely. If we avoid any bad losses we should be looking at a 6-8 type seed in the tourney depending on how the big 10 tourney plays out. I'll take that

Yeah, hard to stay positive on this Jekyl and Hyde team. One game they can look like a top 10 team, the next game they can look like a Div II team. Michigan was/is downright terrible, that string of air balls at the end of the first half was embarrassingly bad. Let's see how Iowa fares again Maryland. Win that one and I think we're looking good for the tourney, lose that and we really cant' lose any other games we're supposed to win (ie: NW, NE, MN, etc.).

Good win today. Lunardi had us as a #10 seed before this win.

A 10 seed is about right at this point. Getting to a 6 seed is going to be a stretch. But, if Iowa can get on a winning streak to close out the year...maybe a 6 seed is within reach.

I agree with the good win at Carver today. I think Iowa caught Maryland at the right time on the schedule. Catching Maryland early in the B1G probably would have been a loss for Iowa.

Woodbury is hitting his stride about as i called it: late in his junior season. He's playing well and hopefully, he continues his strong productivity.

there are no games left on Iowa's schedule they cannot win, really should win out if they play like they have the last 2 games...will be interesting and fun to see, but get Woody into big man camp this summer please! Hakeem can teach him to stand on defense properly, hate to see this kid put through the ringer with the eye poke thing, he doesn't deserve it.

Hawkeye,

I mostly agree with you about the remaining schedule. However, I see two pretty tough games for Iowa: against Illinois on the 25th and at Indiana on March 3. I'm predicting Iowa gets beat by Indiana. They are too quick and athletic for Iowa to defend. Illinois, should be a win for Iowa. They've had some issues with players getting in trouble, but they are playing well right now. Will they maintain that pace given their shorter roster??????

I'd be happy with Iowa going 7-1 the rest of the way. That's 13-5 in the conference and 22-9 overall. Getting 2-3 wins in the B1G Tourney would be even better and possibly push Iowa to a #5 seed at best, a #6 at the worst.

the problem is what Clem said above, Jekyll and hyde, if we play like the last 2 games, it is possible and probable, if they lose intensity, well who knows what the record will be, I am on the roller coaster and in full support so we shall just ride it out and hope for the best.

I honestly don't think iowa has been jekyll and Hyde since november. We got beat 3 times by teams flat out better than us in Wisconsin and Iowa state, lost to purdue without our best player and lost to msu because we forgot to play defense for a half. That one half of ball is really my only big disappointment in b10 play
