Total 137.28 with one roster spot. 5 SP; 7 RP; 2 C; 6 IF; 4 OF

It'd be nice if we can bring the band back together like this. Sabean might have a pretty easy offseason, no trades to make.

I do not see Riot back. I think they look for a few fliers for that spot and try and save a mil or so.

I think they go 1/3 with Weez with a 10-12M club option, 1M buyout.

Not sure Oxy can be had for 8 per. Outside of Bourne and Hamilton, he is the prime FA OF this year. I think he will push the 10/11 per range.

I don’t see Riot, Melky or Affeldt coming back – and I think we add a 5th or 6th starter, middle infield and corner outfield through FA and get RP from Wilson and the farm.

I doubt Weez signs for less than 4. Oxy getting 3/24 ought to do it; I doubt anyone steps up with 3/30.

I don't see anyone giving JA more than 2/8 but you may be right. Melky won't get more than 1/8 to re-establish himself. I just don't see those guys signing elsewhere, but I may be wrong.

I doubt Affeldt goes anywhere else. He's a leader in the clubhouse and you simply can't replace his GIANT balls. Melky can GTFO. Riot... I want him back, I'm not sure though. Big clubhouse glue guy too... So I'd lean towards yes.

I agree on price for Melky I just think we have moved on no matter what price is on offer, I think someone pays Riot more than us, and I would be all over JA at $4 million but think he get 5+ elsewhere.

You're likely right about Melky, but I'm holding out hope that the trophy has softened Buster and other's stance. He'd need to come back and 'splain to the team why he slinked out.

I don't see anyone giving Riot more than two years, or much more than $4MM.

Ditto JA. I don't think anybody gives him more than 2 years or more than $8MM

Hasn't Riot been on WS winning teams two years in a row? Why break up a good thing? He would not be that expensive.

I agree

He just needed to find a way off the Cubs to a team that can actually win a world series (doggies don't count)

Luck can only take you so far

Doesn't Zito have a buyout for next year?

Yes, $7MM. The Giants will not be picking up his $18MM option. Nor will they be renegotiating an extension, as they'll need the rotation spot for Crick/Stratton/Blackburn.

I am not sure Crick/Stratton/Blackburn will be ready for opening day 2014. They will likely all start 2013 in San Jose.

We may need a Wellemeier type starter to hold fort until the ASB.

You think Surkamp could be that guy, assuming his TJ surgery went well?

I think Stratton could be the No.5 come opening day in 2014.

I would not be SUPER shocked if he were the guy, but I would be surprised.

I think they took him with that goal. By most reports, they bypassed guys with higher ceilings to take this guy because he was more polished.

MY "problem" with him is that he did not pitch lights-out as a pro in '12 and will likely start '13 in San Jose. That requires a LOT of growth in one year to be the #5 in SF by '14.

Possible? Sure.

Likely? I dont think so.
